Please tell me I'm wrong
Ok so I was driving to the g/f's house when my car sounded funny (really low exhaust tone type thing) for about 1 second max and then the rpms dropped and the car died. Coasted to a stop and tried starting it again. RPMs wouldn't go above 500 or so and it still didn't sound right. After 10ish minutes (happened about 200 yards from her driveway ), me and her dad tried starting it. It started BARELY but sounded god-awful. Now it's sitting in her driveway. No CEL until I started it in her driveway and held it around 2500. P0300 misfire code 1/2 tank of gas, 7k on BHR coils and plugs, 37k miles on car with original engine, and the cat was never red. Opinions? I'll get a video later if you guys think it will help.

I had it changed at the dealership every 3k miles since new except for the last time. I have a receipt for that so I should be good on that front. Sucks because I've done EVERYTHING I'm supposed to and never had a problem till now. Guess that is life. Thanks.

Damn man, well goodluck. I dont remember if your making the Texas 8 but hopefully you can get a new engine.
unfortunately this is the way the Renesis is... hit or miss for some people. its a very weird engine that has a mind of its own, temperamental like a woman for sure... Its weird how I can read about people who bought 04's as soon as they came out and never had a problem at all with the engine and then I see other 04's with a shitload of engine problems.

I took them in that order. Accidental flash on the first. Is that abnormal or normal? This was after the ride home 7 miles, which totally sucked with no power. We just regraveled our driveway so my car bogged down and died once. Leaving the car off for a couple hours did nothing to improve starting/idling. My exhaust shroud is melting now too. Unburned gasoline wreaking havoc? Pray for me on the drive across town to the dealer in the morning. Oh yea about a mile into the trip home the CEL became constant. edit: If you look really closely at the second pic you can see it's glowing around the O2 sensor. Camera didn't pick it up too well. Pretty obvious in person.

What typically happens is that people sense a loss of power and they get our igniiton system as a "fix". The problem is that by the time they feel the loss of power from weak coils, the OEM coils have already been causing cat damage for a little while and new coils won't fix it. This is why our installation instructions mention the several things that they do as disclaimers and cautions at the preface.
In any event, weak OEM coils causing cat damage is not exactly a rarity around here.

Maybe the best thing would be to, as Al suggested, reinstall the OEM coils and send me the BHR system and I will inspect/update everything? That way, you are covered on all accounts.
