NEED HELP - spark plugs, bhr ignition coil, msd wires, hks ignition system-break down
Hi everyone,
So i took my 8 to the shop and got the bhr ignition coil, ngk iridium spark plugs, and hks ignition system installed. The guys from the shop told me that the car had a problem at first but then it was working, ready to get picked up.
I picked up the car, drove it for a little while, didnt notice any gains of power. Stopped at post office to take something. Turn of the car, when back from the post office i opened the hood just to check the installation and the light of the hks ignition system was dim, like it was dying..but i didnt think it would b anything important.
Went home, car was on, after i got back and started driving, as i put the 2nd gear and was going around 5rpm, everything was cutt off!!!
i cant turn on the car now...it just doesnt turn on...i called the shop and they said it might b from the hks ignition system..i called some friends and they removed the hks ignition system and connected those cables to the stock cables, still doesnt work...
the guys at the shop still want to charge me money to come to the place where the car is...maybe that's a bad installation...
Can anybody help me????

good thing you removed the HKS system, it does nothing with the BHR ignition.
1st: you might want to ensure that the wires are plugged in accordingly. (I have a diagram I can post up in a few mins.).
2nd: does the car crank and just not start?
3rd: where did you ground the BHR ignition?
4th: The wires on the BHR ignition are delicate where they connect to the coil. Maybe they broke one and the coils aren't firing?
where is the car now? at your house?
could it be flooded? would be a first with the BHR ignition (that I've heard of)

2nd: yeah, it does that noise of wanting to start but doesnt start.
3rd: I dont know. It was installed at a shop. Where should it be?
4th: I'll try having that checked out.
Thanks Jedi

pop your hood, there should be a small black wire coming out of of the ignition coils that is grounded somewhere on the car. If the kit isn't properly grounded, the coils won't fire.
doesn't quite explain how you were able to drive it at all but I want to rule that out as a possible problem.
This sounds to me like an install error or flooding, I highly doubt it's the BHR kit but we could rule that our as well by reinstalling the OEM ignition / cables.
Doesn't the shop stand by their work? Why would they charge you more money?
have you tried to deflood the car?
the easiest way to check if the wires are broken is with a timing light. have one?

I'll check about the grounded wire.
They said they would charge if i asked the guy to go to the place where the car is located and for having them checked out the car.

how was your car running before the BHR install?
If it is the BHR kit, it would be the 1st such failure that I've ever seen.
WHERE is the car? not at your house?
can you get it towed to the shop via Triple A or something?

It is somewhere close to my house. I just changed my insurance from triple A to progressive, but I still have the road assistance membership of triple A. Do u think I could have my car towed by tripe A?

Yes. This is why I have my cell number on your receipt. Further, even the guys at HKS will tell you that their ignition amplifier is no longer needed with the BHR Ignition System. It doesn't do anything for the RX-8 in the first place.
Make sure the black ground wire from the BHR Ignition System is connected properly, pursuant to the BHR installation instructions.
Strangely enough, it is ONLY when supposed "technicians/mechanics" get involved that we have problems. Ulika, you would have been far better off doing this yourself with my personal guidance over the phone.

i got it from rx7store.net. do u guys think they would have it back?
Thank you Charles. I will see what i can do tomorrow then maybe give you a call and see if we can solve anything.
Thanks
