LED Help please!

Hey guys,

I did a quick search couldn't really find anything along these lines so I'll give some back ground...

I have LED Fogs, side markers, and parking lights from V-LEDS. Originally I had the rotary FX 9-LED Parking lights but those pieces of S*** burnt out in about 2 and a half months. So I put my stock bulbs back in and everything was great. Today the problem starts lol.

I just received my new parking LED's from VLEDs and went to install them they look great... but as I was admiring my new parking lights I noticed that my driver side fog light was on but super dull (not flickering) and the same deal with my passenger side, side marker. I checked to make sure the parking lights were in correctly and they were so I was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks

Switch'em out one at a time until you see what's up.
That's all I can recommend right now..............and I know the parking lights aren't real fun.

That's all you can really do at this point. I would tell you to look very carefully at the wiring on the parking lights when you pull them out(esp. the right side). I'm assuming you didn't touch the fogs at all this time right and you did both parking lights? That's all this time, just the parking lights?

I just re-read, it's your drivers fog that's dim, along with your passenger side marker....................hmmmmmmm?

yeah... well i just un installed and re did everything back the way it was and nothing changed... but i did notice that they were brighter when the car was actually on than when i just had the lights on but the ignition off... maybe It's time for a new battery? or maybe just clean the terminals the negative terminal has a bit of corrosion or battery acid what ever that bs is that get on em? Also I did recently install a BHR ignition I doubt that has anything to do with but maybe I didnt ground it well enough or one of the connections is loose, I have no idea just speculating...

Check everything you just said!
Really doubt the BHR ground, but might wanna look at that just for the hell of it while you're in there.

I didn't really give you any.
You pretty much are figuring it out on your own! Good luck!
Terminal(s) dirty, weak battery and just never noticed before???? Who knows????

well I cleaned the terminals and checked the connections on the ignition and didnt fix it so Im going to assume weak battery any way to get that tested before I drop some cash on a new one?

It starts ok sometimes takes a little longer than others but nothing serious

All I can say is this is a first. BHR coils having something to do with dim lights.

Fist off make sure the contacts in the socket that the parking bulb inserts into are making full contact with the bulb. They may be smashed flat and not contacting the bulb correctly. Or there could be dirt/moisture/grease in the socket. Did you do a fog light "ON" modification? So your fogs come on with the parking lights?

^ Nope like I said earlier I didnt think it was the BHR Coils, and I checked the contacts and grounding and its all fine i think I have a weak battery but I was just wondering if it could be something else, the lights are dim when the engine isnt on and then they are bright but not as bright as they should be when the engine is on... and its not the parking lights they are fine its the driver side fog and the passenger side side marker that are dimm

Ok, so far I have the LED's are fine, after replacement naturally. It is your passenger bulb within the corner, in addition to the driver fog, that are noticably dimmer than other lights on the vehice. The parts I would inspect and suspect are faulty are:

The Bulbs (dim with age)
The bulb housings (corrosion)
the wiring leading to the bulb housings (usually strands corrode or frayed[rats, gremlins, platypus])

of the two lights you are noticing are dimmer than the other lights on the vehicle. Check these before, and it is common for any vehicle to have ALL the lights dim when the ignition is off versus when engine running. Consider the alternator voltage is greater than the battery voltage.

no problem, the alternator part is aimed at your mention of needing a new battery.

yeah I guess it wouldn't make sense for just two of the lights to dim if it were a weak battery but I understand that the output of the alternator is greater and that's why they get brighter I just find it so odd that it is only two that are dim

Don't be hard on yourself it sounds like you needed a new battery anyway. Just swap bulbs around and see if the issue persists.
