press your unlock key twice... now press your lock key twice. It should honk... sometimes it doesnt flash either... but its like whatever.

Check to make sure the trunk is close, YES go outside and make sure the trunk is firmly closed.

LOL, same here. My 2004 has been like that since the day I bought it. Mazda never figured it out, and it *usually* works, so yes... whatever

when it doesn't it means the ALARM has not ARMED. RTFM!!! reasons for the alram not arming? hood or trunk not shut completely.

Hey all,

I had the same problem and took my car to the dealer.

There are 2 horns on the rx8 one loud and one less loud. It turns out a lot of rx8s have this problem.

Basically one of the horn was receiving too much amperage and just busted. So then both horns stop working. What the mechanic did was bypass one horn and now I have only one working cause it costs 140 bucks plus labor. Its about 2 hours. He has to take off the bumper and shizzle.

It doesnt sound as loud as it used to be but whatever I have a working horn and Im pretty sure you guys have the same problem. Thats what should be wrong with yours!

well, my main horn is working just fine. its just my alarm horn. i checked all my doors and everything and its all closed tight. i know my alarm is still set when i lock the car cause i can see the red light flashing on the dash, its just a ease of mind and "security" thing in the back of mind making sure my car is locked. idk. i guess i wont dwell on it if there if its not that big of an issue.

if the lights DID NOT FLASH when you locked it then the alarm is NOT SET. The flashing red light on the dash means the IMMOBILIZER is "ON" because the car does not detect the key is present.

ya man. its weird. i can hear the locks lock and the lights flash at me. just no horn. i actually know the alarms works cause i set if off last night on accident opening the truck when i had the doors locked.
