Door Stuck Complaints

I know that a lot of you have had a door issue when the latch mechanism fails. I have talked to the National Highway Safety Administration and they said we all need to file complaints on their site. The link is below. If your door has become stuck file a complaint, it only takes a minute. One of us is going to get killed if we don't get them to investigate it.

Does this really happen on a consistant basis? I never heard of it as a common issue like the clutch pedal? This vehicle never has been in a crash?

^ Yea I've never seen another post/thread about door stuck issues.. I have an 04 and my door works just fine. Maybe yours was just damaged in an accident or not taken care of properly.

There have been a few people with this problem... but not as much (or severe) as the clutch pedal assembly.

Are you sure this car didn't have a slim jim used on it? It might pop off the connector. The security is more well thought out. 1-2 gen Rx7 had horrible theft and burglery isssues.

I second vash. I know that also aside from this, its sometimes the cause of the actuator arm being knocked off, and the lock failing to lock and unlock the door electronically.

Same **** happened to me today. I found the whole latch assembly for $60.00. Do you think a locksmith can open it?

first look and see if its something easy to fix. It might just be something that got knocked loose.

Yeah well getting the door open is the problem. I cannot get the panel off and I don't want to damage the panel. I found the whole latch assembly for $60.00 bucks, I just need to get the damn door open.

I don't wish this problem on my worst enemy. I really suggest you guys with high mileage get this replaced ahead of time.

This was the biggest f@#king PIA job ever!!!!! After gutting the entire door after painfully removing the door panel without destroying it we (grungepup and I) finally got it unlocked by ******* luck really. When the door is in the locked position you cannot see this spring or get to the locking mechanism. We had given up after I got frustrated and jammed a flathead into the locking mechanism from inside the door. I got out of the car and almost kicked the damn door open when grungepup lifted the handle one last time and it opened. It was the weirdest thing ever. My prayer were answered.

Once we got it out of the door we found this.

I got a used assembly out of a 07' that looks great compared to my old one.

That's what caused our (mushkid and I) door to jam. The spring broke where it angles to form a hook. I'm glad you're able to open your door before causing much damage to it!

Well, my car has a 117,000 miles on it so it has seen a lot of opening and closing but it would be nice if they could engineer it so it failed in the open position.

Luckily grungepup and I have done some pretty big projects together before so we were not scared to dig into it but had I done it alone, I would have damaged things due to frustration.

The cost for a shop to do this would have been outrageous and they likely would have damaged some stuff. The way that it failed, even a locksmith could not have done anything.

By the way, since you bought a new actuator(it's relatively easy to replace), did you install the new or you kept the old and only replaced the spring?

I bought the entire assembly off of a 2007 Stormy blue. The outside door handle, the inside door handle, the latch assembly, everything. The grease in mine has seen many Texas summers and was all dried up and everything showed signs of wear. The unit from the 07' looks ten times better.
