CEL blinking

Anybody know why my CEL would start to blink when I'm at high speeds at high rpms? When I drop down to like 80-95 it stops blinking. This happens when I go around 115-130.

I'm running royal purple 5w20 and I have an exedy stage 1 clutch and same lightweight flywheel as the daytona rx8. I also use Protek fuel modifier (don't think this matter but throwing that in there)

I was thinking this light is for the engine running rich, but it'd be great if anybody knew for sure.

Thanks!

most likely its just a misfire. check your plug wires and make sure they are tight. you might need new wires or you can do the ghetto fix.. ( take of the loose wire and tight the metal clip in side) if thats not it. next check the spark plugs

Thanks for the response, I guess I'll just upgrade to better wires and prolly should get new plugs, I'm at 32k miles and I drive rather spiritedly.

sounds like a misfire! do it a few more times and it will get solid...regardless you should be able to pick up the code on a reader.

racing beat has some nice wires. OEM plugs work the best on N/A cars so make sure you don't change them to some crazy bosch plugs. (no matter what the guy at the auto parts store says)

i am going to break this down for you.

flashing cel is a miss fire...

when you drop it down you are not a full throttle are you?

common reasons for a missfire.

bad plugs
bad plug wires or one or more loose.
bad coils
fuel pump
running a high rpm test with less than .25 tank of gas.

your flywheel and clutch dont matter.

proteck and premix are the same thing, search for that..

it is not running rich.

get the codes.

beers

I have the same issue so I will do the same thing. I'm always looking for any reason to upgrade my stuff! This CEL light is annoying because I can't pass the inspection or Register my car.... I thought it was a bad Cat... Let me know how yours goes Zeal and I will do the same.

A little surprised no one has asked this yet...but where in the nation is a posted speed limit of 115, let alone 80? Hmmmmm...
