Car runs horribly and dies, is it the fuel pump?
UPDATE STILL NOT RUNNING WELL!!!
Well after trying out a few things recommended here my car is still not running well, heres what ive done that was reccomended,
-Replaced fuel pump from an 06 rx8 with clean sock
-Checked to see if BHR coils+wires were the problem and swapped back to OEM(these were still working before the swap so I can clearly state its not a coil problem)
Car is still running on a resonated midpipe...I dont think that gets clogged.
- not throwing trouble codes.
- Spark plugs got about 8-9 months on them
any further help would be greatly appreciated
Well, it seems im in this section at least once a month....Anyways I was on my way to school doing some spirited driving nothing crazy when all of the sudden the exhaust POPS!! loudly followed by a serious loss in power, it would struggle to make it to 3000rpm (keep in mind this is an AT rx8) then would get a little better in the higher rpm's but would not accelerate past 40mph. I had to pull over at a Target and once i stopped it died. I struggled to turn it on cause it would try to die(must be suicidal) Idle would get better then die again, I would have to keep my foot on the gas or else it would die. On the way home same thing really weak accelerating with violent vibrations and terrible exhaust pops'. At a stop light the car died twice and to my luck there was a Highway Patrol officer at the light in front of me I had to restart it with a loud VROOM...VROOM POP..VROoM pop POP!!! well i made it home after a slight struggle in my driveway. I've done some searching around and found put it could be the fuel pump and just want to find out if its something I can do such as that, or try to take it to Mazda for my engine core warranty. Anyways here are the details to help solve the problem.
Ignition coils: are the BHR ignition coil upgrade and haven't been on very long.
Spark plugs: 6-7months old?
Catalytic converter: None so therefore not clogged.
Ive checked to coils and spark plug wires and they seem to be connected properly and the coils are connected to a grounding point.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, anything from my part that can help this investigation can be provided.
Thanks

Well then, you could check your fuel pump as well as the coils. I'm saying this because it could easily be one of the two. If you've still got the stock coils you might want to try them back, maybe you have an unlucky set of upgraded coils and BHR will take care of you
Jedi54 had some problems too if i remember well but he solved them (2 coils out of 4 were broken from the factory).

The fuel pump is under your right back seat. There are some DIY out there.
I know that the coils perform well but it is your last modification so that is something to check.
The funny thing is that you get no CELs for what i read.

doubt it.
the fuel pump takes a while to heat up an fail. now if you were saying that after driving for 1.5 hrs this happened. that might be the cause..
but if this has happened, and it was the fuel pump. if you let the car sit for 10 to 15 min. it would restart and run just fine..
beers

It sounds to me all the pipe sounds are backfires.... the system is running too rich or the coils aren't generating enough spark to ignite the air/fuel mix.
I agree... swap back to stock coils and see what's what.
A couple of the locals have upgraded to the BHR yukon coils and have experienced problems with starting the car... always starts, but sounds like the car is starved for fuel.
I'm thinking coils, or somehow your fuel trims are getting messed up/ running too rich somehow.
No CELs at all???
EDIT:
Also - clean MAF sensor and while you're at it, check the intake and throttle body for oil...

I say your engine is toast. Time to take it to mazda. You may want to take off your aftermarket parts...esp. midpipe. They may freak and blame the issues on your midpipe. It's happened before.
