Anyone else have these problems?

Ok, so I have owned my RX8 for about 4 months now and it has 21000 miles on it. After visiting the dealership and getting the "M" flash in the beginning of November, my gas mileage dropped from 20-21mpg to 13-15mpg and I have had to take the car in for the CEL twice now since it keeps coming on and going off and had finally come on and stayed on twice. During my most recent visit, the dealership "deflashed" the car back to what I was told was the "K" flash. Car is running and idling better, but still getting poor gas mileage and the CEL came back on within a day. I know some people are having problems with the CEL coming on and gas mileage, but has anyone noticed a negative change in gas mileage after the "M" flash and a neverending battle with the CEL?

Hmmm... I didn't think they could "deflash". And back to the "K"??? Something doesn't sound right about that. If you have the latest flash you should be ok. Someone said they had these problems too. I believe they replaced the PCM. I'll see if I can find the link.

Nah...I am pretty sure that they deflashed...I wrote out the codes in another thread and that was what I was told, then I went and looked it up in the TSBs. Sure enough, they flashed it to one of the previous flashes.

Look up another thread on this section. Some people were talking about a WDS (flashing tool) that needed an update, otherwise it would trigger several problems with the actual flash..or something like that. Let me take a look...

Ok, I see now that they can. Snap-On had some pretty interesting information in a post. Here's the link:

Here you go...they had stopped flashing ECUs awhile back because of some sort of bug that could cause random CELs, etc...

And about the "undoing" of a flash, I think they most likely flashed it to M (again)using the updated WDS. Maybe SnapOn can correct my terminology.

Yeah, they ran my code and it was not P0126, it was P0456. They reflashed the car to bulletin 01-024/03.

Like I said, I am positive that they did not reflash it again to the "M" flash if they really did what they wrote on the service order. The flash that they listed was issed 11/7/03.
