Question Will changing to Redline tranny oil improve the "notchy" feel of 1st and 2nd gears?

I've got about 7800 miles on my 6MT. I'm thinking about changing out the original transmission oil after reading some of the posts here. I'm wondering what the experience has been for those who have changed to synthetic with respect to the notchy shifting in lower gears? Has it alleviated this problem in a noticable way?

it will effect how the gears feel when you shift, but not how the car drives forward. So if you're bad at controlling the clutch, it's not going to help you.

I had changed mine to royal purple a while back before mazda rebuilt my tranny.. my shifter felt ALOT differnt almost like it was too loose. I had driven someone else's 8 and noticed how much tighter it was.. Being a person that likes tight rather than loose.. I have not put royal purple back in.

I don't have any problems with the clutch, or how the car "drives forward"(?).

The best that I can describe the change to redline, is that the gears have been coated with butter. There is no gritty feeling. As time has gone by, I don't notice it anymore, I think it's more me being used to it being smooth rather than it reverting back to normal.

i have rp in mine. i would recommend it. like jas says it feels like butter, so much so that i have altered my shifting style with much less feathering in traffic conditions.

I put Red Line in a while back and the first thing I noticed was the tranny had less vibration at idel and then the second thing was how much smother the shifting was. Go for it, you have had plenty of break in.

yeah, it's ok to go ahead and resurrect an old thread to get updated feedback on an issue clem (as in, better than making a new thread)
