It's really quiet... I can't hear mine if my stereo is on. Instead of an audible alert, I'd love to put an LED somewhere in my line of sight that would catch my attention.

so what it you don't hear it, eventually you will learn when that point is by feel and sound of engine, even though it runs up the revs so smoothly
running it to the cut off point is fun anyhow youstill have 300 more RPM you can play with

not to easy to do
The beep comes from behind the dash- it is part of the PC board/instrument cluster-and responds to multi-facet commands- such as (lights on/keys in ignition, and is factory programed to red line notification. The part is located directly in the middle- if you look at the cluster from behind- look for the "speaker grill " effect- thats where the noise comes out- you will note it faces the fire walll- so it's not at all suprising that you can not really hear it with radio on/windows open. The actual noise is a low frequency eltrical pulse, responding to pre-loaded data in the control module. Having the proper wire diagrams might give rise to some potential on interception and re-directing/splinter the message, however, I would not recommend attempting to wire an LED off it, as it would need a little boost to light even the smallest of visual effect lighting.
