Oil Metering Pump Question

Hello
I have 2004 model rx8 for service.
The diagnostic tool shows p1686 if I remember well who is mop issue.
I check the wire harness and all the wires is ok no short circuit no cut wires.
Also I measure the sensor with multimeter in ohm mode and I have no resistance even in 20 mohm scale.According to workshop manual I must measure around 400 ohm.
So i suppose that the fault component is the position sensor and no the mop hydraulic unit.
My question is ,can I replace only the sensor?
I didnt find it seperate as part so is compatible with other tps from other cars?
Have any one try to open this sensor with dremel and fix it?

The ohms vary as it is moved buy it is not linear. Id just try adjusting it. The middle pin is dead. It is the outer two pins that you have to test.

You can not buy only the sensor. No one has actually found and reported a suitable replacement for it.

Its just a flat bed that has a rotary wheel. The plug end has 3 spring contacts. Just be careful of how the spring is hooked up and you should be fine. I broke Mine to pieces and superglued it back together a few thousand miles ago.

Good luck.

I assume, that with this fault, you are running premix? Several ounces a tank of 2 cycle oil?

It likely only operates in limp mode so premix is a moot point
