Is there a particular Forced Induction that we are waiting on?

I appoloize for asking this, but I keep reading here that "FI is comming soon" and to "wait for FI." So I gots to know: Is this refering to a particular Turbo/Supercharger that will be availabale?
I have had my 8 for 4 happy months, and am taking an interest in performance upgrading. Unfortunately, I am not too technical and am only recently learning about Turbos, and aftermarket performance options. I saw Speed Force Racing has a kit out.

Thanks! Sorry to be a noob :D

(I'm also considering getting SR Motorsports GT-3 Kit as a precusrsor to FI. Has anybody done this and are you pleased?)

I wouldn't recommend getting the GT-3 kit as a precursor to FI. Whether you go turbo or supercharger you will be putting in a different intake, so replacing the intake is worthless. With a supercharger, the upgraded exhaust by that kit would probably be fine, however with a turbo you would probably go with an even larger exhaust and a different type of muffler since naturally aspirated cars are louder than turbo cars so you might end up upgrading the exhaust again. Short story - the GT3 kit doesnt add all that much HP and the mods won't really be too beneficial to any of the FI kits so if you are going to do forced induction, just wait for the kit you want.

There are several kits in development, Greddy, Speed Force Racing, PTP or something, Petit Racing, Blitz Supercharger, Hymee Supercharger, Richard Paul axial flow supercharger as well as a few others. None are really ready yet but hopefully you will be able to purchase something soon.

Personally I'm waiting to get the Greddy kit (depending on price).
February 05 is the intended time of release.

can't wait til the blitz sc myself...

there are some threads with people that have the sr motorsports parts with dyno plots to back it up. Eventhough its pretty pricey with fi its pretty safe to say you are guaranteed to make a lot more power than any other modification avaiable.

I'll take any of these kit as long as they are around or under 5k. But I'm really leaning towards greddy in hopes that it has CARB certification.

If you are looking for something that you can put on in the meantime as you wait for FI to come out you are pretty much safe with a cat back system. There isn't going to be a non-turbo or turbo exhaust separation, at least I haven't seen anything like that yet. Pretty much all the stuff out there is already pretty big (2.5"-3"). Other than that maybe the hi-flow cat/resonator (or straight midpipe) as these are parts that you will not be replacing later if you get an FI kit. The other stuff (intake, exhaust manifold, ECU) you might change at a later date with these new FI kits.

I think I'm on track now. The posters who confused me were just refering to the Turbo / SC phenomenon in general that is on the near horizon for our cars.
(Nothing like coming in during the middle of all the excitement, and wondering what's going on)
I just send GReddy an e-mail expressing interest...maybe I'm jumping on the bandwagon but damn that kit is tempting...

I'm waiting on Hymee's twin-screw supercharger. The only thing that might tempt me away from that is if Mazdaspeed comes out with a factory, non-warranty voiding kit before Hymee's comes to market.

You could call it "Forced Ice Injection"

Realistically we are waiting for ANY kit to actually hit the market with proven gains. The reason I say any system is because it will be nice to finally see them start to hit the market. You've got to start somewhere. This will also give people insight on how much power they can expect. Even if the first one out isn't the one you were expressely waiting for, you've got to admit that you'd still like to see it and that some proven performance numbers would be nice.

Personally I am waiting for 2 specific systems. Both are very different. I want to see Hymee's twin screw kit, and I want to see Richard Paul's Axial flow. Even if they aren't the most powerful kits on the market (or maybe they are?!), they are still the ones that excite me personally the most since they are a different approach to forced induction that most people take to rotaries. Everyone builds turbo kits for rotaries. Let's see something new.
