Man, you're new to your car & you are already thinking about a turbo or supercharger ? I would tell you to enjoy your car first, then go minor mods before you even attempt to put in forced induction. It is not easy.

screw that, don't waste money on junk mods.

I got my car with full knowledge that NA power was a joke and to get any power out of a rotary (ESPECIALLY torque) you need turbos - they go together like bread n butta

Your screen name is a little deceiving, since there is a company called Rotary Extreme that sells parts for our cars and other RX models. As for which is better, its mostly opinion, and what type of power you are after.

i've said it before and i'll say it again..for mad crazy power just strap a sr-5 booster on top of your car..then you'll be untouchable :p

heh eseriously though it all really depends on what you ar after i.e. your driving style and what you are going to be using the car for.

besides they only Fi kit i see for sale is greddy's...you can get SSR's turbo..but they are still working the kinks out i think. haven't heard of anyone actually buysing and installing their kit yet...and i'm not aware of any superchargers of sale ...but in time we'll have lots of options:D

Give the kid a break. If you look on some of the tthreads he is new to the board/RX8. Let's not have him throw a turbo on 2,000 miles into his car. Other mods have shown decent improvement. The new air intake from RB has been getting good results, a testipe/high flow cat gets about 4-8 hp, cat back exhaust 3-4 hp, Canzoomer's piggyback ECU unit that is tuned gives about 15-low 20's whp. All these are much easier mods to install, and much less $$$ & time consuming. But he is right that it won't add nearly as much torque as a turbo. It is just a big task, and buying the turbo kit is just the first step. Then you have the install (about a $1000), the gauges, the gauge pods, etc. After all is said & done unless you have about $5000 don't look at a turbo kit. The other mods will cost about $2000-$2500 will get you decent hp & will be much easier to install, but not like a turbo-level hp.

If you have the money get the turbo its excellent if you dont have the money there are plenty of other mods to get done to your car and make it faster but fanman is right the turbo is amazing and gives you hella torque and is very fun

$5000 out the door is wishful thinking

add new plugs (which are retardedly expensive), tuning and tuning and tuning, labor and tax, easily gets you nearer to 6 - but still worth it.

Hmm.. thanks a lot for all of your advice, specially you fanman, that was some really good advice wich Im going to put in practice as soon as my 8 arrives...

As for the turbo, damn I love how a turbo feels, but I'm gonna wait for the warranty to expire first... and then I'm going to get it.

I want my 8 for street use, almost every day use... here in guatemala there are no restrictions for street cars or any restriccions what so ever ::P they dont give a flying **** so, u can do what ever u want to your car with out worring.

That not true. I got my turbo for $2950, BOV for $200, gauges for $400, gauge pod for $300, installation & tuning $1200, you're at $5000. Plugs weren't that bad, like $100-$150 (which aren't necessary, but recommended). Either way unless you have $5K-$6K don't consider a turbo project.
