Single/Double Din help
Sorry if this is already been discussed elsewhere...
I currently have a single din with a Sony Xplod Stereo and a metra kit with that (already installed when I bought my 8). My husband recently got a flatscreen pioneer radio for a really good price and wanted to install it in my car. Though I've had my RX-8 for a little over a year, we are both still new with it
I am aware I need to get a double din. Do I have to get another metra kit or does the one already installed cover it and I just need to get the double din panel (if that;s even possible)? As i've seen on some of the posts, talking to Best Buy and other electronic folks really doesn't help...already experienced that firsthand....Best buy told us it would be about $530 to get the double din and have it installed in my RX-8. o.O
Anyway, I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to put the Pioneer in.
Any help is much appreciated!!
Thanks!

You will need a double DIN Metra kit. It costs about $150, for instance
Look around, you may be able to get it for an even better price.
Asking $530 to get this kit and swap the existing installation for a new one seems steep. If you (or your husband) are handy enough, it shouldn't be a big deal to do it. There is plenty information here in the forum about taking apart the dash, once that's done, it's a simple process.
