How much to OEM accessories cost dealers?
The reason I axe is that I was unable to talk my dealer into parting with the all-weather floor mats for the same price as one of this website's supporters. I'd prefer to keep my money local, but they wouldn't budge on the price. I hate to be chintzy about it, but it's a gift from my parents for Xmas, so why make them pay more?
In any case, I think the dealer was being a little silly. Presumably they don't get the parts/accessories from Mazda for any less than a mail-order house does, the mail-order house obviously isn't taking a loss on them, so basically they just didn't want to make LESS money than they already were.
For the record, the list price is either $60 or $70, depending upon who you believe, and the mail-order vendor charged $56 with free shipping (and no sales tax, which I would've paid locally if they'd played ball)... So basically the savings is almost $20 from the $75 I would've paid at the dealer. I actually don't know what the dealer was charging since I went straight for the throat, but I'm assuming $70 since they said they "couldn't get near" the price I wanted to pay, and $60 is already pretty "near" to $56.
Any clues as to a general percentage of list that dealers typically pay for OEM parts and/or accessories? I thought it was about half, maybe 60%. Edmunds says that the dealer cost on these mats is $48 as an option on a new car (retail $60), so that looks to be closer to 80% if those numbers are correct... And may be correct only for new-car sales.

Target, Walmart, and Kragen has all weather mat sets for like $25. You just have to cut them to fit the "foot-warmer" on the shotgun side. They have outlines to trim so its not homemade looking. Get those, and switch to the carpet mats in the Spring/Summer time.

I know a guy who's 31 and his mom still puts toothpaste on his toothbrush for him at night! Yes, she comes over his house EVERY night to do it, too. He's got 3 kids and a wife...
