Help - Steering wheel removal ?

Have any of you fine gentlemen a previous experience regarding the steering wheel removal ? I intend to switch to a Sparco wheel, and I'm trying to do my homework in advance, as I didn't buy it yet.
I see a couple of issues here:

First, airbag removal. Let's say I can manage to do that.

Next, is the steering wheel itself, but I'm afraid if I unscrew the wheel nut the shaft will go down somewhat. I tried that on a Focus, and it went down because of a bloody spring. I imagine on a Mazda it must be something like that.

Third, the wiring diagram. The hub adapter comes with a circuit which cancelles the airbag check light, I just hope I will connect it correctly. As for the horn, I can try shortcuting the remaining wires until I hear the sound

Anyway, your help would be much appreciated.
