Hard Wiring Radar Detector

Before I start cutting wires...as anyone tried to hard wire a RADAR detector above the rear view mirror? I'm assuming there are power cords going to the rear view mirror for the home-link / auto-dimmmer. But dos anyone know the power (volt/AMP) in these wires?

It is a lot easier to jump it into the fuse box and run the wire under the edge of the headliner -- take about 15 minutes and no wires to cut. There is a thread on this in the DYI forum.
