Component speakers vs regular speakers in the doors?
Should I use component speakers in my door or just speakers by themselves? Is there a tweeter inside the door as well? I know I'll need an adapter.

Ok thanks, I have the Bose system. So I should get a component woofer with the little separate speaker inside of it since there's no other place to put it correct? At least from what I saw on pictures

Component speakers are a set of separate woofers and tweeters. Regular speakers have the tweeter mounted in the center of the woofer, which is what I think you are referring too.
A regular speaker is the easiest to install, but there are places to install component speakers if you want.
The Bose system has tweeters in the little triangles at the front of the windows. One option is to mount them there. Another is to mount the tweeter right next to the woofer. You will need to make a custom adapter plate to do that. You need to buy or make an adapter no matter what speakers you get because the Bose uses a 9" door speaker which you will most likely replace with a 6.5" speaker.

Components really are only better if you amplify them...the 13 watts from a stock radio merely just scratches at the surface.
For mainstream stuff, I am an Infinity and Polk fan. Polk has a nice smooth sound, Infinity has a very bright sound.
Look for a speaker with a high Sensitivity (db) rating. A rating of 96 means it is very efficient with the power it is given.

Component speakers maximize the sound stage that is available in a car interior by elevating the directional upper mids and highs to be closer to the listener's ears. I always go with component speakers when possible.
Here is what I did with my Bose stereo. It's a bit different and more minimalist than Jedi's approach.

^^^ because we all know what a minimalist Jedi is.

Steve, I actually followed your original stereo thread and have installed the same alpine tweeters and alpine rears. Now I'm just gonna put in a new HU and if that doesn't do I'll put in a compact sub

If you want bass, a sub is the only way to go. The next step is to get rid of the rear Bose amp. It has all kinds of filtering in it to EQ the lousy Bose speakers, and that does not translate well to good speakers. Of course, that means replacing the front speakers.
I have purchased all the stuff to do this to my car, but have not found the time, considering all my other projects and hobbies.

Ok. So if I have front tweeters in the range of 1k-22k hz and rear coaxials in the range of 65 - 18k hz, what should my door speakers be? 35 - 33k 30hz? ok? And bass I'm guessing should be below30hz

The easiest thing to do is buy a matched set of component speakers for the front. I bought a set of Alpine R series that are more or less timbre matched to my Alpine S series rears.
