Pics of New Rear Rotary LED Light

Thought you guys might find this little item interesting...

The corner LEDs light up with your tailights and the center circle of LEDs light up with your brake lights.

What is the difference in the pics? (left/right)
Like the idea of the light but I think it should of had a Rotor pattern.

I'm not sure how the pics are wrapping in your view, but the pics show a close-up of the LED in action, a distance shot, unlit red lens, red lens kit, unlit stealth lens, and stealth lens kit.

Price?
I'd love to quote price, but I believe this is not allowed on this forum. I'd hate to see this thread removed so early.

A group-buy is a possibility, but at this time I couldn't say where or when.

the stealth lens looks pretty cool. 4 brake lights is a lil too much for me though.

sorry guys , but I'm having a difficult time understanding the cool advantage of a cheap vegas light show here...do you want an 8 that resembles a holiday tree, or a car that is cruising under its own merit... heh, as I see it after this, guess I'm char-broiled and ready for the flaming, just be gentle........

Just to be clear, the flashing light .gif we listed above was to show how the light alternates between a tailight at night, and the center brake light that works all the time. It wouldn't actually alternate flashing like that unless you were a particularly bad driver.

It also can be set up to have all the lights work with the brakes or with the tailights. Given all the crazy light kits we've seen being sold for this car, we'd hardly call a functional light that mirrors a standard feature on European models as a cheap Vegas light show....

I agree that likening it to "a cheap Vegas light show" goes a bit too far. (For one thing, this light seems very well designed and made—nothing "cheap" about it—and it's just one light.) But I do think it's a stretch to compare it to the standard feature on European models. That light is, in fact, a rear fog light, and I suspect the reason it's there—and the reason it's standard equipment abroad—is that it helps prevent a rear-end collision in a particular environmental situation: a thick, dense fog. I believe the light is used in dense fog only. It would never be turned on when the weather is clear or cloudy or even just rainy. If this is true, then the light being discussed here is very different, despite its apparent similarity. (In fact, people here purchased the OEM rear fog light and were dismayed to discover how bright ("like a beacon") it was. They felt compelled to add resistors or change the bulbs so it wouldn't be so intense. Which proves they didn't want it for its intended purpose. They simply wanted a cool looking, rotor-shaped running light. That's fine. I added the Mazda interior light kit to my 8 because I like the way it looks. Are they functional? Well I suppose if someone dropped something on the floor they might be helpful, but the truth is they're just cool looking.)

So the real reason people want this light is because it's cool which, I guess, kinda fits in the "cheap vegas light show" category. Whatever. But saying it mirrors the rear fog light that's standard on European models seems, to me, a little bit misleading. That's only about safety—this is mostly bling.

Is it legal here in the states to have something so low for a brake light?

I have been looking at doing something similar and it is almost done. But was told that a brake light can not be that low to the ground at least here in Minnesota as it can cause distraction to other drivers.

It makes sense so I decided mine will be lit up only with the parking lights and not too bright... more to throw a hue of light on the accent and insert.

Ok, maybe "mirrors" wasn't the exact word to use. Maybe I should have said "parallels the rear fog light that's standard on European models," but at least the description is in no way misleading and is very specific on what this light does.

It is funny how everyone is used to a third brake light on cars now, but a third taillight or fourth brake light is "too much." Was the third brake light considered "bling" (or whatever the word was back then) when it started showing up on cars?

I would think an extra brake light that also lights faster than the car's standard brake lights would be considered a functional accessory. But so be it. As with any accessory, this is clearly not for everyone.

Case in point - maybe I should I scream "Who likes fender strakes?!?!" and see what happens.

I would think that a brake light that caused distraction to other drivers meant that it was working.

Very nice. I don't think it looks like cheap light show at all. One set of lights is on when the taillights are on; the others flash when the brake lights are applied. That seems straightforward to me, complementing the other functional lights. I like it.
