Thumbs up New rotary shape intake Manifold

Factory plastic intake manifold piping is just too small when you went FI. Specially if you going to boost it up. So we custom made or manifold. Of course after this will need some tunning so the idle will be perfect. Check out hlaf way unfinish product. Will need some polishing. Some low quality pics from my phone.

BTW my 8 just Swap from 4AT to 5MT ECU I use HKS F-CON V Pro

a bigger UIM isn't necessary unless you are shooting for over 400rwhp

It's not so much the diameter of the piping, it's the lack of a plenum chamber. Most boosted engines have a decent sized plenum volume from the factory--4G63 (Eclipse), RB25DET(Skyline), 6G72 (VR-4), 20B and Cosmo 13B. Some factory turbo engines have a very small plenum like all the Subarus (STi etc), the Taurus SHO, and the FD 13B-REW.

Larger plenum volume=more top end with some loss of response, but it depends on a bunch of factors like intake port/valve timing, runner diameter, etc.

It serves its intended purpose very well.

This thread needs a bump, I am more interested in the 5mt swap. What was needed to accomplish besides the obvious ECU, EMS, and tranny. How does it run dyno sheets? 0-60? respond please. A 5mt swap is domething Ive neen trying to sink my teeth into.

HKS F CON V Pro will cure all your ECU problem on the swap. They do have the wiring harness for RX-8. I did not do the swap, but my machinic did it in 3 days.

Have you ever got the car dyno'd? This is something A lot!!!of 4 port owners would like to do. Do you have an estimate on the total cost of the project?

HKS F CON V Pro with all sensors about $2000
5MT trany Used about $900 Only 1000KM on it
MT clutch parts + MT console Used $300

Dyno Tuned $100

After all. car runs good. But You will see many warning lights go on. Cuz factory ECU still detect F con try to override it. I don't know much about how they did it, but I love the way it is now. Alot better than 4AT. My Greddy turbo is more useful now.

Why spend $2000 for warning lights when the AP unit can provide a better situation for a fraction of the cost?

edit: obviously you arent in new york then...

^^same reason he's designing a rotary shaped intake manifold for a market that is no where near justifying it via airflow(save 1 or 2 folks)....... cause its different. aka cool(or stupid)?
