DIY: LED in Coinbox

Ok here we go ... this is my 1st wiring mod, so it's going to move at a snail's pace. My goal is to document (for noobs such as myself) the entire project including electrical components, steps, and the final product. Along the way I'll be asking questions and hopefully proceeding with ultimate success. I will probably buy some of the components from www.oznium.com.

The Objective

Install ONE 5 mm white LED in coinbox controlled by a switch /w LED in dash.

The Electrical Components

1) 5 mm white LED (3.3 V, 20 mA), comes pre-wired with resistor. (1st pic)

2) Add-a-Circuit Mini w/ 5 amp fuse to draw power from cabin fuse box. (2nd pic)

3) LED rocker switch. (3rd pic)

4) 5 mm LED holder. (5th pic)

5) 18-20 ga wire, spade/ring terminals, other assorted items.

The Circuit

Animation from www.oznium.com (4th pic)
Note this animation doesn't show grounding of the switch to light the LED.

Power from fuse box w/ Add-a-Circuit > +'ve switch (and grounded) > +'ve LED > -'ve ground

So that's the overview. Back later with more ...

For some reason I can't post in-line images so here are attachments.

1) blank switches (pic 1)

2) fuse box (pic 2)

It looks as if there are extra slots in the fuse box. Can anyone tell me which slot to plug the Add-a-Circuit into to provide power when the car is started but not just with headlights?

Here is a link to a DIY showing the blank buttons in the dash beside DSC.

am i wrong, but isnt there a led in the coinbox already? why didnt you just replace the led that comes stock with a white one and not bother with a switch or anything. I replaced the orange stock leds that illuminate the window switches that way, pretty easy. good write-up, just curious though.

Sorry but this install is put on hold for a few weeks. Not that anyone's gonna' care but in case somebody was wondering why I'm so lazy. Just lots of work at school. Just installed the RP short shifter and I still have RR's footwell LED's and this coin box thing to do. And just ordered the AudioLink mp3 player.

Whats the point in bringing up a dead thread to put someone down?
