What is the best aftermarket exhaust out there for the RX8?

Hey ya'll; just wondering what is the best aftermarket exhaust out there for the RX8 that puts out the most horsepower/torque on the RX8? If you could, provide text that shows the results please...Thanks!

NO aftermarket exhaust gives big HP increases. The OEM system power wise is very well designed. People buy aftermarket exhausts for looks & sound. So the answer to your question is it’s a matter of personal preference. I choose the Greddy SP2 for its combination of good price, looks & sound.

Yeah, the decision should be based more on sound of the exhaust & appearance of the tips (some like bigger tips, some like chrome, etc).

I beg to differ about completely looks and sound. My HKS Legamax added a significant increase in airflow, perhaps pickup to my 6MT, plus the center consol is cooler now....and it sounds great

I just ordered a Racing Beat catback. Hopefully I'll get it this week, installed, and run through a tunnel (oh, that sound!!!) I'll let ya know how it turns out if you're interested....

The HKS is a very good exhaust, but all the perceived hp increase is in your head. There is no exhaust that has shown any significant hp increases (more than +3.5 hp). Of the several that have been dynoed by Racing Beat & also the posters here on the board. Also, straight from the horses mouth we have a poster here on the board that works for HKS. In talking with him at one of the RX club meets, he said in testing at HKS with the exhaust & intake it netted about a 5-6 hp increase with both. That is about what you can expect from improvements like this (maybe a few more hp too with the ram air duct now). HKS has a great product, but the stock unit has already been very well made. The notion of a 10-12 hp gain from an exhaust is a "pipedream" for this car.

judging by the size of the flames, i'd have to say the Borla probably is one of the least restrictive - but your still not going to gain much of anything with a catback

I have SR Motorsports catback and the high flow midpipe. I absolutely love the throaty sound my 8 has with it and it looks pretty darn sharp IMO.

Hi all , I'm thinking of buying an exhaust for my 8. I'm looking for one with a deep tone that is not too loud. Does anyone have any audio of some aftermarket exhaust? I know due to variations of speaker systems ect. that that the true sound will be somewhat different , but maybe at least I could get some idea. Thanks

Yeah I don't doubt that at all Fanman....when I mentioned increased airflow I was referring to the ease to which the car breathes over the stock exhaust. Not so noticeable at high revs, maybe to some extent, but in the low revs and low gears the car rides a lot smoother and seems more agile at lower speeds when everyday driving.
