Question Repair Soap Etched Glass???

I tried a few searches to see if there are previous posts on this issue -- but nothing that I could find, If there are some previous posts, let me know.

I bought my 2005 RX8 in January '07 with <13K miles. Previous owner washed the car regularly (a good thing) -- but apparently didn't towel dry the car, but let it air dry. The glass on the driver's side seems etched by minerals in the water or soap residue. From the top of the window at one spot it's as if the water/soap dripped and ran down the window about half-way. It's quite noticeable.

I tried Windex and Stoner's Invisible Glass. Didn't touch it. I even gently tried my Zaino Clay Bar on a small part, but no effect. It seems the glass is etched.

Suggestions? I don't want to replace the glass if there is something that will work.

Thanx!

Vinegar and #0000 steel wool. Make sure it's the finest steel wool which is #0000 (not #000 or #00, etc etc).
