Pitted Alumnium

I've searched everything on cleaning an engine bay, but i haven't found any way to shine the aluminum on the alternator, or engine itself. I live near the ocean, so the salt tends to have it's way with my engine, and my Alternator is all pitted, and chalky looking.
Does anyone know how to polish up the aluminum?

buy an alternator off a junkyard car, remove the internals and have the outside powder coated. then reinstall. no more problems.

if you are worried about having your heart broken by seeing a rx8 in the junkyard.
then pm the forum vendor mazmart. ive never dealt with them personally, but from what i gathered they are very reputable and respectable vendor, and that their pricings on used rx8 parts are also very fair.

It's on my engine somewhat too. I asked Scott from Mazsport, and he said that a lot of cars get that down in Florida.
He said to use "Blue Coral Wheel Magic" then power wash it. I will take pictures of the corrosion later.
Maybe my Car is telling me to swap a 20b in?
