cleaning dashboard?

ever since I got my car, i've believed that my dealer must have sprayed the interior with some kind of crap because the rougher section of the dash infront of the passenger seat always had a whiteish streaky haze to it and at a corner there is actually a little run mark.

basically, the whiteish streaky haze is now getting worse and worse and 3 years later my dash looks really faded out.

any suggerstions on what to use to clean the rough section and get it looking black again

dont let dealers detail your car. what they want is money and they want it fast. they dont care what they put on your car or how they clean it. i dont know of this "rough section" youre talking about.. can you explain? oh yeah dont let dealers use armor all crap on your car either.

use water and a sponge.

After it's dry use the blue bottle of NXT by Maguiars.

303 Aerospace or Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer works very well. Keeps the sheen matte.

I have the exact same problem- dash section in front of passenger turned "white-ish". So I used ArmorAll or 2001 or some other crap product and the white-ish stuff came back in about 3 months. I did make sure I only put it on only that one section so it wouldn't "glare" my whole dash.

Is 303 available at most auto parts stores?

^ never use Amrorall unless youre going to us that POS on tires and wheel wells(thats the only thing i would use em for). you can order 303 areospace protectant at 303products.com . they do sell it OTC but i cant seem to find any store that carries them.

you might be able to find 303 in NAPA auto store, I bought a 16 oz for less than $10 a couple years back.... I don't know if they still carry them.

303 Aerospace Protectant--popular with boaters and the pool/spa crowd. Check your local marine supply store or spa/hot tub dealer. Numerous on-line vendors.

Maguiars' leather wipes also do a great job. Stay away from Armorall.

I use Zymol leather cleaner for the dashboard - works great without leaving the dash shiny and oily looking. Leaves a nice smell too.

Interesting about Armor-all. I used it on my dash and it is now much shinier than before when it had a white haze to it. Also used it on the plastics underneath the hood and they are very shiny. I just spread it over it and wipe off the residue. Works great so far.

^ Ofcourse its going to look shiney. try wiping on cooking oil on your skin. i wouldnt mind putting some cheap armor all on my wheel wells or under the hood because its cheap and really shiney (which isnt good for itneriors since it will create harmful glares).

best stuff:

use Zymol Leather Cleaner then Zymol Leather conditioner.
It does not leave a glossy appearance, but provides an excellent surface cleanse and protective finish.

I use it on my leather upolstery as well everywhere else, with exception of the clear plastic on the dash.. But everywhere else including the radio, piano black door accents, and center console.

Anyone use any Meguiars interior products other than the quick dealer? i.e. leather conditioner and/or vinyl/plastic cleaner?

^ The leather condition meguiars offer isnt very good. even though its cheap... does not make the leather soft and plush feeling conditioned like zaino and lexol. it doesnt last as long as zaino or lexol either. but you get what you pay for
