Injen CAI SP6080 for 04-09

Category: Engine - Intake/Fuel
Price: $260
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): PA
Item Condition: New

I am listing a brand new and never installed Injen CAI for 04-09 Series I RX-8's. The reason I am getting rid of this is that I purchased this online from an authorized Injen dealer who had it listed as working for 04-11 RX-8's. I read the directions when I got the intake and it had only model years 04-09 listed. I contacted Injen and they in fact confirmed that it would not work for my 2010 model and since I didn't purchase it from them they couldn't do anything further for me. I was away on business when I receieved it so by the time I found all this out it was past the mark for return and there was nothing the online company could do as well. I was furious about all of it. These go for around $330.00 at various places online so the price I have listed is more than fair. I would just like to recoupe some of the money at this point. I was really excited to get this installed as it retained the "stock" look under the hood while providing the performance of the CAI. Needless to say I was disappointed about not being able to use it and I don't have very many options for my model year. Feel free to shoot me a message with any questions and thanks for taking a look!

When I contacted Injen they stated that it was for 04-09 model years. They said it would fit my 2010 model with no issues but they had changed the fuel map from 09 to 2010 and it would cause a check engine light. My car only has 8,000 miles on it and I just didn't feel like riding around with my check engine light on. Other than that it would fit just fine. This is all from Injen themselves, one of their engineers contacted me back and explained all of this.

Well I'll take a pic of the instructions that state in bold letters that it is for the model years 04-09. Also I'll give you the phone number to Injen and you can contact them yourself and then they can school you on their product....since I think they know better as they designed it. Your an idiot man and keep your comments to yourself if you don't have a clue what you are talking about! Again do the research before you post.

I don't know why you wouldn't call them and ask instead of making unfounded claims. Unless you don't like to be proven wrong. It would only take a few precious minutes out of your day. And yes there is a difference as the tech explained that Mazda did change the fuel maps from 09 to 10 for EPA standards and better fuel economy. He said it would fit but would throw a CEL when driving at highway speeds as the mixture would be to lean. But again you know everything as your an Injen engineer right?

Well you obviously don't know anything about intakes then. The reason for all the R&D is to get the correct length on the intake tube. I'm sure that you can take any old piece of pipe and stick it on the intake so as long as you have a good seal around the MAF and it will suck air, that doesn't mean that it will be efficient in doing so. Also you have no clue as to how fuel maps work now do you? Just because there is no TSB doesn't mean that the fuel maps haven't changed. I just love how all of a sudden when someone installs one intake or changed their transmission oil that they all of a sudden become an instant mechanic and they know everything. As for the REVI Intake they only sell one model of intake that will work with all model years as they designed the intake duct accordingly. Not all intakes are made the same....if you google cold air intake and check engine light you will see what I mean....but you won't because you know it all since you installed a few intakes in your day. I feel sorry for your buddies as I wouldn't let you near my ride man.....especially since you think you can just rig any intake or anything....sure anyone can do that.....I want an intake that works in all the rpms ranges and doesn't lean out as most do in certain RPM ranges. There was a HUGE write-up on intakes in Import Tuner magazine and they did a great job of explaining how intakes are designed...how they work....the differences and they even placed different intakes on a test vehicle and monitored the AF ratio of each to show the difference each intake had on the various RPM ranges and how most would lean out in either the top end of the RPM range or the mid RPM range and only 2 made it through the full range without leaning out too much or actually loosing HP. But then again they don't know anything either......they are only a huge publication with techs that don't know squat and that everyone who listens to them is an idiot as well. Please do actual homework before making claims....I never said that I was an Injen Engineer but I actually did my homework before making a statement....my claims don't come from randomly putting on a CAI and hoping that it works and when it does you take it for fact because you were lucky. I listed exactly what years where stated in the instructions in BOLD lettering and also from the same information I got when I called Injen to see if by chance it would work. I am only stating facts, like I stated before....please contact them and then get back to us all. I don't want to sell the intake to someone who has an 2010 or 2011 model and then they come back at me saying its throwing a CEL, I am a straight up guy and would expect the same from anyone else. I would rather sit on the intake then take the chance of selling it to someone and them then having problems with it because of the information I held back. I apologize because I'm an honest person!
