RX8 at my work in cali (june 6, 2003)

there was a guy who was staying at the hotel i work at (valet on the weekends) whom had just retired from mazda japan. as I was talking to him i found out that he was a production and development person who did some designing of the rx7's and the rx8. Mazda USA let him use the rx8 for the weekend while on vacation so i was able to get some pictures of it "in the flesh" so to speak... hope you enjoy them

shamless promotion of my car :p

closeup of the metallic flakes

the rest of the pics

*EDIT*
i made a dummy account on ImageStation so that other people don't need to sign up.

Good close-up of the gold metal flakes. I had heard about them but this is the first time I have seen them in a photo. Must look great in person. I am getting a Winning Blue and I hear that it has silver metal flake.

the red is a basic red color, until the sun hits it (the one i saw at the LA auto show didn't show the flakes due to the artificial light) but it has such a nice tint to it when out in the day.

also i'm planning on getting the winning blue as well saw one on the 405 last week and made my final desicion on the color

Brilliant choice if I do say so myself. I almost went with the Titanium Gray. It is a can't miss color too. When I started looking around town though, I noticed that there are a lot of Silver or Gray Sports cars. The only problem with Winning Blue is there is no blue leather interior option so you are stuck with black leather. Here in Las Vegas that sucks unless you like using a spatula to unstick yourself from your seat. Now as it turns out there are some good photos of the black fabric combo on this site and I liked the fabric enough to live without the power lumbar support (darn) and power seats. The final clincher on my choosing Winning Blue was when I visited my bro in Sacramento and I saw his Z. Man it is sweet. See it here:

it is a real kick butt machine. I have never seen another car so well "enhanced" as his.

With the cloth seat option, you probably don't gets the Hard Shell Backing as well...

The license on this rx8 is 4896, so it's the same as the one spotted in San Francisco in the other thread.

Ya, that sucks big time.

It may have to do with all the safety equipment in the seatback or it may be a way of punishing me for the sins of my youth :p

it is the same plate number, but that plate was the old california blue plate, and on the same weekend as the one i saw down here.

that might be the mazda plate number used for all the cars they road test.

still sexy :D
