Motor Trend's 'new' Rx-7

Sort of reminds me of the R3 and the Speed3 smashed together.

Does it say possible DIESEL??..

I really don't feel like driving a Crossfire, thank you.

Or Audi TT?

*EDIT* did it just say 2-stroke rotary? All credibility gone...

It won't look like that, it's a sketch. I'd rather imagine a toned down version, which is what happens. I think every "first idea" looks radical compared to the refined production model.
Some day i'd like to see a 3-d render cause that is what they are going to be "sketching" on.
We are always get drawnup ideas that mostly don't mean crap and are usually drawn by some kid in his basement trying to make a good stock of work to get into school or graduate.

i wrote a letter to the editor about the 2 stroke comment and then hit clear instead of submit why do people put the clear/cancel button in the easy to click spot and make the submit button harder to get to?

I hope nobody thought it was a Mazda concept. I mean, how many of those are actually real? None? I think so?

I read through the article and was totally unimpressed. Another reason I haven't and never will subscribe to MT.

Ehh... Its okay... obviously just a sketch. I could do without the wing though... but all of this news is good publicity for the new RX... All of this will get people excited

I love this sketch, i know the production model wont be this radical but it still looks amazing. Im not a huge fan of the spoiler or rims. They should just use the same design for the rims on the newer 8 instead of those IMO. It looks as if the door handles are in the same place as on the FD in the sketch. That would be a nice touch to remind people of the FD chasis and the history behind the rx7

ya i just now noticed it. They should just change some minor things but leave the overall body shape how it is. Get rid of that hideous wing, change the mirrors, different rims, and get rid of a few lines and it would be a beautiful car

It's not bad actually...I'm mean I am liking it a lot - god knows we need plenty of upfront air ventilation, oil coolers, and intercooler space for the turbo so with the Mazda grin we got that - "check" ; no back seat - "check"; Furai swoops down the side - "check"; spoiler to keep the *** down at track speed - "check"; LED front lighting for coolness - "check"; giant wheels to provide gyroscopic effect for straight line stability at uber speeds - "check".

I'm digin it!

Front half is OK, back half is horribad.

But srsly, all of the sudden this rotary can burn anything combustible? If it sounds too good to be true....

Whatever the car ends up looking like, I would hope they continue to use the R3 wheels. And hopefully smooth doors. I hate doors with ridges, indentations, etc.

Wonder how credible this info is? First it was somewhere in the range of 250-275hp...now they're saying over 300 and better mpg. There's no way that's happening N/A.

If its 300+ hp with better gas mileage, i wonder if it will be a turbo diesel like the jetta, the only reason why they are turbo'd is for gas mileage purposes

I don't believe for one second that Mazda does not have this car ready to go. I know they still don't have the engine performing how they want it, but I'd bet anything the body/design of the car is a done deal. Just show us the damn thing already!!!
