Wheel spin when shifting ?

I have a couple buddys who can wheel spin when they shift. I know this is because they shift really quick. Now i just went out with my buddy who has a g35. We ran from a red light (i know i didnt stand a chance lol), and from the start i kept up for about 20 meters but he dusted me after. He got that wheel spin as well. We werent really street racing, we just kind of went up to the speed limit.

I tried this but i can never get it. I tried shifting as quick as i can but i still didnt get it. Im not asking this so i can beat the crap out of my 8, im jsut curious. Is it because our cars dont have a lot torque that i cant get it ?

THanks

Sounds more like clutch dumping to me , try driving like that with a car that has actual ***** and you'll wrap yourself around a tree.

^ I understand that. But i dont get how they do it. Im not saying i wanna go out and try it. But apparently its from shifting fast. And i do shift fast sometimes and i NEVER once spun my wheels.

it's not about shifting fast. you need to get a better understanding of torque and friction.

To get a sweet backfire + bark into 2nd all at once:
1. heat exhause for 10 seconds or so by driving the **** out of it or just redlining.
2. Floor it in first gear to redline.
3. Timing is key here. Shift to second. Floor it and try to dump the clutch with the rpms just slightly higher than your rev-matched rmp for 2nd gear.
4. See if any pedestrians have fainted and call the proper rescue services...
5.Repeat steps 2-4 from second to third gear...

*must have gutted or no cat to achieve backfire. Bark aka wheelspin is innevetible

1. disengage traction control
2. rev to 8.5k rpms and shift
3. buy new tires.
4. profit?

hey look, Unique-Snowflake (c-phlat) is giving bad advice.

To the OP, if you really hate your car then by all means please repeatedly redline and dump your clutch.

You guys are misleading my intention here. I didnt create this thread to learn how to dump my clutch and wheel spin. I just wanted to know HOW they do it. And what actually goes on when they do it. I baby my 8 and no way in hell would i do that.

so you're homophobic?

to the OP.. the spin their wheels by either having enough torque to do this or by playing with the clutch and revs.

Maybe the word "dump" is a little too much, The Stig would understand

Do you have DSC? that could be your first problem. I used to be able to do it all the time with my Dunlop tires, now that I have switched it's not so easy, it still happens though. There are so much factors in it. If your buddy is shifting really fast, he is most likely dumping the clutch at a high rpm/shifting with his foot on the gas, I used to do that in my 94 ranger. Practice when it's wet out.

Same with me. I've chirped my tires maybe twice in my month and a half of owning my 8 so far. I haven't looked into what causes it, but now I really want to lol.

Not sure if you're being entirely serious here, but you should never floor it in first gear. Hell, you should rarely redline first gear at all.

Ok after re-reading this, you shouldn't redline for 10 seconds. maybe 2 or 3 at most. But you don't have to if the exhast is already hot. And I don't usually floor it to redline in first. I'm just saying IF you want a bark and a pop at the same time. Didn't say is was a good idea to do it often if at all. It's fun though...
