What is This Thing?

What is This Thing?
I found this under my passenger seat, along with the plastic piece that covers the seat mounting bolt.
I have no idea where it came from, or what is goes to.
I've not carried anything in my car that I could think it may have came from.
The tan looks like expandable urethane foam. The tan stuff also appears that it has been snapped off.
Any plausible ideas?

Once when leaving work in 1997 I went to the parking lot, unlocked the door to my white, 1979 RX-7 and got inside to find that someone had switched my interior from black vinyl(?) to red cloth. Upon further inspection I learned that a new guy with a 1980 Rx-7 of the same color had just started where I worked and had the same exact key combination. That led to a year of randomly moving each others cars if we wanted the better parking space...
Don't know what the heck the thing you found in your car is. How big is it? Maybe it is some type of cabin air filter?

It's roughly 2.6 wide x 2 tall x .6 thick. It's made to do something. I just dunno what.
I found it after the Dealer changed out my pass tail light due to moisture. They also fitted the front brakes with shims for squeeling.

Call them up and tell them they forgot to install one of the parts and just left it on the floor board of your car. That should get them to find someone to tell you what it is.

They probably stuck the parts inside your car when you gave it over to the service writer, then unpacked the thing on the passenger seat. It could have slid underneath or got kicked under when the tech gave his buddy a joy ride.

funny and frightning, but when a few days after i bought my car i was vaccuming it out and found a safe auto insurance card stick between the seats. the dealer i got it from said a guy bought it before me, financed all but $170.00 of it and wrote a personal check for the rest. the check bounced, and he couldn't afford to pay it cash so he had to return the car. i'd like to think i saved her from certain disaster. seriously who puts safe auto on an rx8?
