Upgraded starter available under warranty - tell me more!
How many of you have had you starter replaced?
My car would not start and was having a major issue with trying to crank it over.
Mechanic replaced the starter with ' a NEW HEAVY DUTY version' and said
' there is no current recall concerning the starter problem on the Rx8 but there should be one'
So along with the other recall issues, and problems associated with this car, you can expect your starter to fail or fall of the car. Wonderful.
Sorry

43,000 miles and mine starts like a champ.
This is the first I have heard about anyone having a problem with a starter. It may not warrant a recall but just replace under warranty any bad ones. Every manufacturer has cars with bad parts. Toyota, Honda included. Those are parts not actualy made by the manufacturer but by a supplier. Sometimes things happen and get caught too late. They are made by humans. No such thing as defect free.

More negative stuff about the 8, or let's cram this forum with alarming-sounding lies

Mine wouldn't start this morning, for the first time ever. It's being towed to the dealer right now with the aforementioned TSB sitting on the passenger seat. I'm in the VIN range for the starter and battery replacement, as I have a fairly early build 04. I told the dealership all about it; hopefully they'll take care of it.

mine has a november '03 build date and i havent had any problems with the car whatsoever. in every instance where theres a recall, the dealer fixed them. I wouldnt even know they existed until i received a recall notice. 48k miles and still no problems....
