Underhood Sticker Translation
Can anyone please tell me the meaning of this sticker I found under the right front edge of my hood?
It is a silver/grey and white sticker with the following:
Port Rework Campaign
Rework: 03F05
Port Code: JX
Date: 08/18/03
Does this mean I have had the ECU Reflash, among anything else?
Thanks

The "L" calibration has been found in vehicles with build dated AFTER December. If your vehicle was manufactured after or during December, it most likely has the latest firmware, which we know as "L". However, the only time your vehicle will have a sticker referencing a reflashed PCM is when the dealer does it (if they remember to even put it on). No sticker is on the vehicle from the factory referencing PCM software versions.
Now, to address what the "F05" number is referencing exactly, has proven to be unsuccessful. Forget asking the dealer...they have no idea...and dont care either....MMAO likes to help, but they dont really know(or wont tell you) what it is. I have F02 and F04. My vehicle was in the first boat to the USA from Japan. For obvious reasons you dont have these same numbers.
The port rework is for issues that need to be addressed on the vehicle, and are discovered after manufacture and before release from port. Mazda then incorporates the port fix into the assembly line, deleting the need for that specific port rework after that point. This explains why we will have different numbers on our cars.
Here is a previous thread with pictures of the sticker.
I, like you, would like to see what all the numbers mean. In the meantime you can do the NV RAM clear procedure to check if you have the latest software version. BTW the only time is is called "reflash" is when your old version gets uprgraded. In other words...You could have "L" from the factory, and I could have "L" after my dealership reflashed or upgraded my PCM to the latest version. We both have have the latest leaner fuel map software version, but my vehicle is the only one with a "reflashed" PCM.
