TSB: Replace leading and trailing sparkplugs

Anyone else get a call yesterday? Taking mine in today.

Word. Mines going in tomorrow to get inspected so I can register it. I'll have them do this too.

Btturbo is talking about the new PDI steps for 2005 and 2006 which involve replacing the plugs that came with the car to brand new ones when its purchased. this is supposed to be done BEFORE THE CAR IS DELIVERED TO THE CUSTOMER. Mazda is tracking this step so when a dealer doesnt do it they get a message and have to have the customer come back in to get it done. So the call was the dealer admiting they didnt do the PDI correctly.

Besides having the dealer admit they skipped this process, then contact us, how can we (as owners) take a more pro-active role in finding out whether this was done properly? Because, I did not get my old spark plugs in the glove compartment like other users who have bought their RX. Any comment on this?

the plugs in the glovebox will only happen on 06s- the 05s werent shipped that way. If you took delivery of an 05 after the date of that tsb then you should verify with your dealer that it was done during PDI.

Zoom,

Once the TSB is performed, do they "mark" the car sort to say with an inspection decal? I took delivery of my 8 in May of 2005.

Mine was on July 7, 2005....can't find the date that you are talking about Zoom....should I just call the dealer that I bought it from and just ask them?

no mark on the car - usually because they dont have the little stickers. but the work performed will be in the car's service history database.

the TSB was issued in March. If you were delivered in July 2005 you probably arent covered by the TSB- and you probably already have Updated plugs.

That is exactly what it was, just got back from the dealer. Glad they took the initiative to do this, first I have heard about it. Must have missed that thread on it.
