You are mistaking my friend. We love speed, we love racing, we love twisties, we love Horspower and we certainly love beating corvettes or any other car for that matter , and also talking about it. As long as is on the track or any other controlled enviroment. Anything that has to do with Street racing is not permitted on the forum.

Only street racing allowed here is how fast your fuel gauge goes or your side windows retract.

Web, don't feel singled out. Every forum has some areas that are out of bounds. On this forum there are two: street racing and Crossfires. And at 10 mph under the speed limit, you'll probably be running with the Crossfires.

I think it's pretty gay to have an out-and-out rule against mere discussion of streetracing. I'm not a F&F fan nor do I fully endorse the activity, but I am not ignorant to reality and I doubt there are many members here who can honestly say they've never done an impromptu stoplight challenge or even made solo hard pulls through first, second, and half of third.

But, in this day and age, perceived or feared legal liability and policital correctness often overcome common sense and reality, and we wind up with rules such as this being enforced, which ranks right up there on my retard-o-meter with the city in Florida that has the citywide ban on pickup trucks being parked on the street or in private driveways.

Just remember to preface all your "competitive" postings with "on the track,...." and you'll be fine. "On the track,..." is forum code for "I dont want any BS from the mods over what I am about to say".

OF course, all of this ignores the fact that you aren't likely to have many legitimate "kills" to post if you were driving your rx8 anyway, which is the most logical and valid reason I can think of for not allowing such postings here...we don't want to be known as a group that harbors liars or bullshitters.

You could just say illegal street racing because Nevada has legal street racing. http://www.openroadracing.com/

You probably watch all those "world's most outrageous police chases" narrated by John Bunnell and try to emulate his voice and overly dramatic comments, dont you? Everything he says on those shows is something like this:

"This young punk is piloting his vehicle with total disregard for the law and putting everyone around him in danger as he barrels down the highway at 78 miles per hour, tearing up asphalt and kicking up dust as he goes." Or, "Watch here as this driver changes lanes without signaling, and he nearly hits this pedestrian <camera zooms in on pedestrian 100 feet away on the other side of the road>".

"Impromptu stoplight challenge"? "Solo hard pulls?" How old are you… 15? I suspect you'll be much happier in the Mustang and Camaro forums. This forum is for sports cars.

I assume that the "no street racing" rule has something to do with legal liability if something bad should happen. And it's a smart move.

If some moron kills people in a street race and leaves behind a bunch of threads that make it look like this board encourages street racing, then some people here could get into deep ****.

BTW webshooter, forum aside street racing is a really bad idea. You can easily lose your car and do jail time. I've known two people who have been killed by street racing, and believe me, you don't want to know the details.

Ya i know, i'm in the army and we get classes on it all the time. yesterday was the only time in my life i raced someone legitimately (mainly cause i've never had a true car to do it in). And i managed to get to only 10mph over the speed limit, it was mainly a "who can take the turn faster kinda thing" for 10 secs or so. Don't plan on doing it again on city streets

what do you mean "beating corvettes"? Only you and a few others can speak those words....

OP- theres really no point in street racing, and no point in risking losing your car, crashing, or a death just to prove that you are faster (when they probably werent even racing you at all)......

After like 6 tickets I drive the speed limit all the time- learned my lesson. You'd be surprised how much money 6 tickets total up to be. Not to mention the Insurance going through the roof.

Yeah they were spread out from 2005 to 2010.... but even still you feel the burn $$$. Some for 40 in a 30, some for 80 in a 70, etc. In none did I purposedly speed, but it doesnt matter to them. Keep your eyes open for speed limit signs and other drivers. Enjoy your car while you can, take spirited driving to the canyons and such... places with twisties that keep you on the 60-40mph range or below and let you enjoy you car in the places where it really performs well... Live and Learn young grasshopper and welcome to the RX8 club

^ Not to dwell on this but, if you've never done it, autocross is a blast! There are meets in mall parking lots (and sometimes on race tracks!) every weekend, across the country. Doesn't cost much money, but it's great fun, requires honest-to-goodness skill, and tends to be highly addictive.

Check out this video that someone else was nice enough to post…
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ight=autocross

…and here are some of the basics:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ight=autocross

Do it!
