Sokie Tech RX8 Hood Dampers
So for anyone who has looked for hood dampers that were low cost, you may have come across a brand called Sokie Tech which is found on ebay. Now I understand that some of you are going to break out the flame throwers here about buying stuff on ebay, but my experience will hopefully help prevent others from going down the road as well.
So the hood dampers are made and shipped from taiwan. They are nitrogen filled, and come will all necessary hardware to install. It is a very simple install, honestly takes like 5 minutes as long as you have half a brain.
So after installing the dampers, I was relieved to find that the dampers held up the hood without issue ... except .... now the hood doesn't close heh. So I know of the horror stories with people damaging hoods so I made sure that I was very careful here. I gently pulled on the hood, and saw that there was no movement whatsoever. I removed the dampers and tried to compress them manually and realized that unless i placed the force of hulk on these dampers, they were not going to compress. I $hit you not I put about 100lbs of pressure on these dampers before they started to move the slightest.
So I contacted the company, and they were very pleasent to deal with. They shipped out another set free of charge. I got them in yesterday, and am sorry to report that they face they same exact issue...they are far too stiff. I spent all yesterday manually compressing the dampers and such to "break them in" ... No difference.
As suspected it is an "ebay" product so it is understandable that the odds were not in my favor....the purpose of this thread isn't to complain or anything, but to document my experience incase someone comes across these dampers on ebay and does a search on this site for user experiences.

I got a set of those and they worked great, a bit slow to open the hood but was ok considering the price of them. I had to trim the rubber gasket where the hood sits to clear the struts otherwise my hood had a gap near the windshield. Mines are for sale for a resonable offer
