RX8 Tranny in a 3rd gen RX7?
I was wondering if you can take an RX8 6 speed manual tranny and put it in a 3rd gen Rx7 for an extra gear and lower first? If so who has done it and what does it take, did a search with no luck. Thanks in advance and God bless
Merry Christmas.

^ exactly. the rx-8 transmisson is not designed to handle the hp the FD can put out, i've already considerd this.
i've also considered putting the fd transmisson in the rx-8 for better gas milage. crusing in the 8 at 70mph is 35-3800 rpm. the same speed in the fd is 29-3200 rpm...

You could physically do it but you'll have to use the RX-8 starter, clutch and flywheel too. The RX-8 transmission does not hae a provision for a speedometer cable so you'll need to get real creative here. You will need to have a new driveshaft custom made. You will also need to redo the transmission mount but that's pretty easy. Yes it can be made to work. It isn't designed to handle the power though so you'll need to go easy on it. No hard drag style launches.
