Every time my car get wet the brakes rotor get rusty, does this happen to anybody else?

Happens to all cars. Just drive it and the rust will come right off.

Rotors are made from iron, Iron + water = rust. Rust + breaks = no more rust.

I have had my RX-8 since January and I'm not seeing the brake rusts that I see on most pics here. I guess I'm lucky :D

Every time the weather gets a little wet my rotors are rusty the next morning. A little pressure on the brake pedal as I go down my driveway and I'm rust free. As long as your first stop doesn't need to be a hard one everything should be fine.

Most of the problem has been caused by the rotor hub rusting. It never goes away. I pointed out the problem to the dealer when I took the car in for the ac fix and without batting an eye he said they would paint them for me. (I had been intending to paint them myself) Since they have been painted the problem is gone.

I know there have been threads on the problem but I don't know that anyone else has tried to get the dealer to take care of it. They might.

When you wash your car, about 10 minutes after spraying the wheels, you will see brown/orange rust forming on the rotors.

Painting it will solve that problem. Without the paint, the rust is an eye sore.

No problems with my rotors rusting (as it comes off with a quick drive), but some of my wheel lug nuts are beginning to rust. Should I worry yet? Only had the car for 6 weeks!

I don't think you can paint your brake rotors.... The pads need to be able to grip them. Not only would painting your rotors inhibit your braking ability, but the paint would be ground off the first time you hit the brakes.

Yeah, don't even try to paint the area that touches the brake pads. The rust comes off as soon as you use the brakes. It's the area around the edge and around the center hub that you paint.

you are never going to stop your rotors from rusting unless you go with some exotic carbon or ceramic rotors. They are hunks of iron with absolutely no film (you hope) to protect them from the enviroment - iron rusts, end of story.

And who would want exotic ceramic rotors? Evo magazine reports this month that Porsche owners are having terrible luck with theirs. Many are cracking and breaking apart. Replacement cost is $6-7k. That makes for some very pissed off GT3 buyers.
