Oil Problem or Jerk Dealership?

I just got my first 8 from the dealer a week ago. In that time I have put 250 miles on it and just today I got a low oil light and when I checked it really was quite low. I have heard that the 8 burns a lot of oil due to the rotary engine but going trough 80% of my oil in 250 miles seems a lot worse than I had expected.

It is also possible that the dealership simply did not fill the oil completely. Does anyone else experience this type of oil consumption or was it probably the dealer? Thanks

Top it off and see how long it takes to drop down a couple knotches on the dipstick. chances are they just didn't top it up.

Dealer 9 times out of 10.

8's don't burn that much oil. No where close to that at all.

have you noticed any oil in your driveway? is it possible they forgot to tighten the drain plug and it leaked out that way? 250 is way too fast to go through any oil much less all of it. they either forgot to fill it or you have it leaking.

throw a drip pan underneath your car to make sure you're not leaking oil
I'm leaning towards the dealership not topping it off properly but just in case...

I have not noticed any sort of oil leak yet. I filled it up and marked the mileage, we'll see how much it decreases. It is good to know that I don't have to expect using that much oil when all is working well though, it was a real shock. Thanks for all of your help.

depending on driving style, you MIGHT go through a half a quart of oil every 1,000 - 1,500 miles.
NOTHING like what you described here, most likely an oversight by the dealership Tech.
