Oil light again

Ok so my 8 had the oil light come on again (not the first time, did this a few months ago) on my way to a job interview today (excellent timing). I did the interview, and then checked the level when I was done. It was about at half, which is strange because I just had the dealer change it, but perhaps I wasn't on the most level of surfaces to check on. Either way, I topped off and it went away.

Still has me mildly concerned. Could the OMP be screwing up? Or the sensor? I'm under warranty so I'll ask the dealer on my next service but I'm just wondering your ideas

If you're using up 1 qt of oil somewhere around 2.5-3k miles, then it's working as intended. If it's using way more than that, look around for a leak. Check underneath at the drain plug, check the filter and check at the OMP where those 4 lines go in.

My oil light would come on randomly after I first got my car, turned it off, turned it back on and no more light. Seemed like something with the level sensor, which it was. I replaced the oil pan as the sensor is one with the pan and have never seen an oil light again.

There was a TSB on it... I don't think the light should come on if your level is halfway between the marks on your dip stick.

Yep sounds like the same exact problem that was going on with my car.

To me half was or full I wouldn't trust the light because even after doing thr oily change it would come on at random bt I noticed it would come more on the freeway going about 75mph

Definitely a DIY job, if you don't mind getting dirty alittle bit.

Yeah, I couldn't even take the damn coolant sensor light being on at high RPM's, there's no way in hell I could take the oil light being on because of a freakin sensor. Even thoough I check mine often, I still wouldn't like it at all!

Change the oil pan. If not under warranty, then Mazmart may have a good replacement from time to time.

Maybe Ray or the guys at BHR can assist?
