I guess I'm looking like a fool, I took someone's word that this car starts at 21K but it -looks- like it starts at 35K.

What's the real deal?

No Official Price release yet

Mazda has been fairly tight lipped about pricing, but the article from the April R&T indicated a target base of $26K, and loaded to hit close to $30k.

Mazda will need to hit the price point very well, there is a lot of competition in this price range. The RX-8 does have a lot of cache value in that there isn't anything else quite like it. Unique features such as the rotary engine, freestyle doors, size and balance are some big pluses. But pricing it too high will kill it. All of the Asian performance cars suffered from this before (Nissan Z, Toyota Supra, Mitsu 3000gt, RX-7). There were a few other factors, but cost was the most significant contributor to the previous demise of these cars.

What i am hoping for is that I can get out the door with a 6 speed , good stereo, xenons, LSD all std and a sunroof option for $28K.

Thanks for the great info.
I was showing thsi car to people at work, and man what's wrong with their taste? THey don't like the look of thei vehicle. Instead, they like the "Subaru WRX". Granted Subaru is safe etc, but is that hting ugly? It's uglier than my honda civic. It's a box. How could they like the look of a WRX over this RX8!?!?

What is wrong with them?
