well first off welcome.
now to the important stuff (just kidding!)...
the car is not cheaply made. please shoot & kill whoever told you that, even if you like the person. they are spreading false information about a great car. secondly, the car uses about a quart of oil for ever 1500 miles you drive. this varies a little from car to car, but its really all about the driver. the engine is DESIGNED to consume oil. it requires more lubrication than a piston engine, thats all, there is not anything wrong with it. people are split over the mileage issue, as there tend to be large discrepancies in MPG. people i have heard anything from 13 to 23 MPG in these cars, but most of that is simply how a person drives it. some people might think that they drive their car 'hard', while another person might describe that very driving as 'granny-style', & so on. this is a universal car issue, but i think that the rotary engine is more prone to variances in mileage due to driving style & weather conditions when compared with 'conventional' cars. finally, this is a SPORTS CAR. if you are in the market for such a vehicle, you probably shouldn't be too concerned about gas mileage. if you are, then look at another range of vehicles. sorry for being so longwinded, i just like to be thorough. hope i answered all your questions, & im sure other members will add things to the list ive started & more than likely correct something that i have said. good luck, & again, welcome to the cult!!! errr, i meant club!!!

Welcome, nice grammar :D
The RX-8 is anything but cheaply made. It has excellent "fit and finish".
It does use oil, but it largely depends on how hard you drive it. It's designed to use oil, so you need to check it every 2 or 3 gas fill-ups.
I average 20 MPG with mixed driving, and i don't baby it. That's the same as my WRX got, so it's in line with what other cars in this category get. The difference is, I used to get 29 MPG onhighway trips, and the best i get with the RX-8 is about 24-24 MPG, but it does cruise a LOT nicer on the highway, and i just don't use it for long trips.
There have been various problems that could be attributed to growing pains (since the rx-8 is a brand new vehicle with a brand new engine). Most problems have been addressed, and for the most part Mazda is pretty good about working things out with us, but a lot of that depends on your dealership. Choose wisely. i suggest you spend a lot oftime researching the dealerships near you
And before you get gunned down for not searching, all the questions you asked were asked many, many times before so the search button will yield some good results.

It's built in Japan just like the Scion, uses 1 liter of oil every 1500-3500 KM, gas mileage is 18/24 or worse (but the Scion has an anemic 160hp while the RX-8 has 212hp so you don't get 52hp for free), no problems with mine.

Embarrasing to have to correct your own post.

Test drive it. It's fun. Well worth the negatives that come with pure enjoyment.
Unless you really can't afford a tank or two of premium gas per week.

It's a great car, just be prepared to spend lots of money on gas.
My RX8 only gets about 12mpg in the city and about 18mpg on the hwy. But then again, my average speed on the HWY is around 90mph and the city I live in has a stoplight on every corner, so there's lots of stop and go driving. I never baby the car.
The excellent handling makes up for everything.

Huge hole is huge
You should forget what people say about this car. It's something very unique, and people are just afraid of something new and different. Find an opinion about it for yourself.

HI and welcome to the club. as for a white 8, i hear that after a week it starts to get these brown dirt spots. but if you buy this special formula called Soap. I hear its suppose to get the brown spots off. Also if you buy ... i cant remember the name. i thinks its called wa, wa ,waaa, waaxu, waaxuu, WAX! its suppose to do some thing with the paint. just not sure what it's suppose ot do.
