My accidental RX8 purchase...
Last Friday night I visited a local Mazda dealer with the intention of taking home a new Miata.
My youngest daughter (21) was in from school for the weekend and had come with me. We were
looking the Miata over and she had just started to come around on the ideal of her “old” father
driving this “chick car” when it happened.
We both noticed a blue RX8 sitting towards the back of the showroom. After a brief discussion we
both agreed this car looked more like something I would drive. Normally neither of us cars for the
dark wheel look but this RX8 with the R3 package just looked right. After sitting in the Recaro seats
and looking around the interior I decided I would have to give this one a try.
Mazda bought my ‘04 back after a short period of ownership and I have not really been keeping up with
the RX8 much after that.
The most impressive thing so far is the handling.
I have not had the chance to but many miles on it but hope to remedy that this weekend.

hell, you could always ask him in this thread if you could date his daughter. LOL kinda creepy though if you think about it to ask a father to take pics of his daughter with the car. "ok hunny, just lean against the hood with your back to me. a little more. There ya go. work it.. work it... Hmm maybe we should put you in that bikini you got while on spring break instead of those torn up short shorts. Maybe the next for the set." /shudder

Congrats! The MX-5 is a fun car, but your daughter is right, the RX-8 is a bit more of a "guy" car And a whole lot more practical.
If you don't mind my asking, why did you sell your '04 soon after you bought it? Were there problems with it?

Mazda overestimated the horsepower in their initial marketing. When this was discovered, they offered to buy back the cars from owners or to give them free maintenance.
