Finally!

So after completing a full week and a 1/4 of ownership (and nearly 1,000 km's [600 miles.. geez]) my girlfriend finally admitted that she felt "really cool" when driving the 8... this was a highlight for me.

For a few months we battled over the first car we were going to buy together. She wanted the Mercedes C-230 Sport Coupe and I insisted that the RX-8 was WAY MORE car for the money (which is most definately is, no question) and eventually she gave in and signed the paperwork. I've always noticed that she was a bit blah about it still having those Mercedes stars in her eyes (girls just like the word MERCEDES). I mean it's an expensive car to be blah about.. But today she said how everyone looks at her and all the guys she sees driving other really nice cars give her a lot of respect on the road.. makes her feel like a rockstar.

Even girls can be converted... and I rarely with a battle with the lady... phew...

My daily positive post about my 8... love it sooooo much.

congrats...Mercedes are overpriced pieces of ****...if you go to Israel all the taxi cabs are Mercedes, and not some dumbed down model either, these are the same ones that Americans pay an arm and a leg for since the prestige of Mercedes in the US is overrated

thank goodness you stuck to your gut and got the 8...you will NOT be dissapointed!

I've had the pleasure of driving a few Merc's and i gotta say - *very* nice cars. But if you're spending your own coin on it? Pfff...8 all the way. Really - much more bang for buck IMO. Course depends on what you want - EVO or STi owners could argue those cars are even better and in raw #'s and track performance they are - but man, the 8 is a living wonder. Groceries, cafe, late night cruise, road trip, daycare...yet to meet the situation my 8 couldn't deal with easily. And all for a very reaonable $$. Loving it!

Lots of taxis in Germany and France are Mercedez as well. If you must spend the money on German engineering, go with the BMWs or Porsches. They are way cooler than the Mercedez (AKA Euro Buicks).
