Hello all, I've been lurking for awhile... ever since I started thinking about getting an 8. Well, I'm finally ready but I do have a few questions that I'd like to ask.

1) The flooding "issue"- I'd like to get a manual but I don't have much experience with one so I'd pretty much be learning on the 8. My question is has anyone out there without a lot of experience with a manual had problems with flooding when you kill it?

2) If for some unknown reason I look more at the automatic (better deal, insurance, or whatever...) how does it accelerate if you punch it at higher speeds? I drive a lot on country roads and I hate not having the power to pass a sunday driver when I come upon an unexpected dotted yellow.

3) Also with the automatic, is the break in period different? I remember reading in a thread that during the break in period you didn't want to run the engine past 4000 rpm if you could help it. I was wondering if the same was true with the auto and if so, how you could do it?

I dont know about the first two questions. But I'm pretty sure that the break in period will be the same for both autos and manuals. The reason for the break in is to allow the intake ports to slowly break in, not the tranny. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's the main reason.

I pretty much learned on my manual 8. i first learnt on a 240, drove it twice. I stalled a bunch of times and did some jerky shifts. I never flooded once even with cold shut offs and stalling and turning it back on and off. Took about a month to get driving stick down, and i have no regrets towards a manual.

Kidd , I bought my car last week , I have driven a manual before , so that was easy . You'll learn , just like I learned to ride a motorcycle . Bought one years ago and never really rode one till I drove it off the lot ! Anyways , after I got my car last week , I got stuck in stop and go traffic and I killed it once ... I was FREAKED that it wouldn't start , and the bad boy started right up . I even stalled it yesterday and it started right up . I do have the "m" flash but I make sure my car is warm before I kill it . Trust me ... 6-speed is FUN as HELL to drive ! You will not be disappointed , and you'll learn quickly in shifting
