I'm sure it's been said before but I just picked up my new 8 after I totaled my previous one a few years ago. On my way home from buying her, it was raining.
Seeing those little puddles dancing in the groove on the hood reminded me of all the other little things I love about this car!

Missing my love
Well my 8's been down for about a month now. I jumped on this thread to bring a smile back to my face. I even go out to my shop and sit in her ( on jack stands ), staring out the windshield at a wall. But a wall isn't what I see. That white canvas turns into a twisting back road somewhere, or smooth straight run where you can fully open her up wide. I miss the sound of her screaming as I'm 9k deep.

The above quoted reason... Best view ever!
The V on the hood captures little puddles while you're driving.
The way the seat cradles my *** like a red-hot lover.
The low, throaty Whoosh of the engine when I start her up.

I definitely miss the way the engine revs. The redline at 7.5K just seems so low compared to 9K from before. And all the power for the evo comes in between 4 and 6k.
Lastly, every time I see a grey RX8 I wonder if it was my old car.

Little things?
Are there little things? Everything about this car is an amazingly big thing. I have had my 8 for less than a month so I am assuming that eventually things will start to sort themselves into big and little, but right now it's all amazing!!! Even the fact that my ponytail fits perfectly into the head rest is HUGE!! LOL Yes, I love my car.

I remember when he joined, it was just after he sold his 8, and it was to complain about the 8's performance metrics. I just re-checked his post history, and it has been nothing but bitter or snarky posts about the 8's low torque, as if none of us are aware of it. Since he clearly doesn't want to be a part of the forum community, I went ahead and made sure that he wasn't.

Bottom feeder
my favorites:
1. the fingertip reach of the volume or A/C controls while your hand is still on the shifter..
2. the brake handle- it juts out and acts as a place for my girlfriend to place her hand (she likes that). For me, I particularly think it is great because it is so accessible during emergency situations.. most brake handles are not within easy position to reach and pull quickly.
3. cup holders are completely contained and will prevent spillage from going down to the carpet or anywhere else for that matter.
4. Shifter is very short and quick. I can rest my wrist on the center console while still holding onto the shifter in case I need a quick shift.
5. auto-dimming day/night rear view mirror is great! No more mucking around with the rearview mirror while driving. Keeps your attention where it's important - in front of you.
6. Trunk is amazingly spacious!!
7. Super-glad I got the NAV system. It was totally worth the it! Seriously, I bought it for the "cool factor" but I realize now that it has saved me so many times now. Normally my girlfriend tells me where to go, but she's not always with me, so now I have "The Lady" (as she calls it) to help me. The thing ROCKS...
8. controls on the steering wheel.. I didn't get that on my TT, so it was a nice change. But even if there wasn't any on the wheel, the controls are so close to the shifter it's practically at your finger tips already (probably more so most of the time).
9. Wheels are very easy to clean. Nice and large with huge spoke openings big enough for me to reach in and clean them thoroughly.
10. Digital speedometer actually relays the information to me faster than analog. A personal preference.
11. (this one's rather trivial but I find myself using it lately): Ability to switch to km/h setting.. I'm an automotive enthusiast that reads lots of import mags, and being of our imperialist yank mindset, this gets me more in touch with the rest of the world when I read foreign articles...

Everything still rings true today as it did then. And then some!

I like the relative uniqueness of the 8.
I drove from Kansas City to south Louisiana and saw only 1 RX8.
It still garners compliments from strangers who ask what kind of car it is.

when i bought mine i drove from near st. paul, MN, 8hrs (or so) drive back saw 1. though it was march so maybe they werent out yet. though even now i rarely see 1, other than when us local rotards meet up.
that said i dont know if its a little thing, but love the rotary as a whole. especially how linear the power is!

I love:
Looking out at her in the driveway, she's got all the right curves. Can't keep my eyes off her!
The rotary inspired 19" wheels. I cannot find after market wheels that I like better!
The view of the fenders from the driver seat, I call it RX-8 Side-boob.
How smooth it is, the way it purrs at idle and the wonderful whine it makes while revving.
How effortlessly it goes into, and out of corners.
The auto window roll-down, double click and hold on the key card.

Driving the twisties & the grin I get can't be beat. One of my favorite features though. is that my wife can't see what speed I'm going from the passenger seat, only the tachometer and she can't relate that to how fast I'm going!

MX5 and RX8
The click-clack noise the gearbox makes shifting from 1st - 2nd in neutral.
The way mazda made damn sure you keep gloves in the trunk (oil dipstick locations)
MX5
How I can drop the top or put it up at a set of lights, with one hand.
The headlight up down button.
RX8
How the windows stay powered for a bit even after you take out the key.
The fact that the door lights come on once you remove the key.
Those triangles everywhere. Favourites are the head rest ones.
Steering wheel volume controls
The dead pedal.

It's happened many times in my 8+ years of ownership, but as I returned to my 8 parked at my storage unit in Queens, two employees on a break were sitting on some stairs, drinking coffee and admiring my car: "Hey what kind of car is this?!?" they ask. "It's a Mazda," I tell them, "an RX-8". "It's beautiful! Kind of a black cherry color." "Yes..." I tell 'em "...Black Cherry Mica, they call it." "Wow," they say, "we thought it might be a Tesla!"
