How do they perform?

Hello,

Ok, I have recently started looking for a new car, and a few days ago saw a RX-8. As with most people here, I really liked the looks, and I had heard a little about the expected performance. I had not been following the cars development, but I had always liked the rx-7 and rotary engine, and so was interested in the RX-8. Anyway, after some internet research, I have found out about the hp issue.

I realize that hp is just a number (although I don't think Mazda should get away with lying about it), and may or may not predict acual performance. So, I have a few questions for owners. (Manual trans versions most interesting, but would like to hear about autos as well.)

1. 0-60 times
2. 1/4 mile times and speeds
3. mpg (with driving habits noted...)
4. handling and braking impressions (slolam/skidpad results would be really cool)
5. if above #'s aren't as advertised, what would be required to get them?

Anyway, I have read through a lot of the older posts and didn't see this. If I am asking an old question, feel free to yell at me.

Thanks

Giving the board 43 minutes to answer your (SHOUTED) demands at 1:08 AM ??? I think MightBuyOne, you need some sleep, and a then perhaps ponder your request.

The search function would perhaps be more productive as you are seemingly in such a rush. What you're asking has been repeatedly covered in multiple multiple threads. Do your homework.

Savv3, chill out.

8_wannabe was responding to his "If I am asking an old question, feel free to yell at me." line.

MightBuyOne, please look through the Discussion, Tech, and Mazdaspeed/Aftermarket sections (don't forget that option that lets you see threads older than 5 days). And if you can't find the answers that way, please do a search. These things have been discussed before.
