Hey guys, new ride after 8 passed on
Well I have done a lot of grieving over the 8, see my past thread:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ng+in+car+hell
Anyway, the insurance actually came through for 17k which included all the mods, I got extra for those too, even though it was only 1k for the 6k worth of mods, it still helped . So it has been about 4 months and a couple weeks since I lost my love and I still miss her greatly. But I moved onto a new ride.
Here are some pics, let me just say, it really seems like quite a few people have moved onto this car after the rx8. Maybe it is because they are wayyy different.
It is nice to have a car that makes quite a bit more power than the 8 and still gets relatively similar mileage. Not to mention how insanely, sometimes annoyingly, loud it is (when I bought it it already had a full header back SLP exhaust on it.)
I really still miss the 8, I miss the sexy curves, the finesse, the revhappy engine I don't know if I'll ever be really happy again until I either get another one or own another rotary in the future. It was so much fun and was a blast to drive. Still I splurged a lot of money into it and I don't want to go through the same modding process again so I just got a car with already a lot of power.
You guys have been great, and this forum is much more fun to wander around on considering there are so many more active threads and what not unlike those of the GTO forum. I've learned a lot in my over 2 years here on the forum, and the 8 will always have a special place in my heart
One final pic of the 8 that was my favorite:

HAH!!! Another one goes to the dark side. Buckle down t-run, because the haters are on their way!
Congrats on the new ride, and, yah, I think the SLP catback sucks. It's just way too damn loud if you have headers. Fortunately, you can knock the decibels down with pair of mufflers instead of the bullets.

You're kind of lucky. Since you have headers already, you're just one step away from getting a cam. 425-430whp is about normal for an aggressive cam with headers/tune. You would be getting up there close to 500 crank hp. Add a good set of heads, ported throttlebody, an intake (not just a CAI, the manifold), and you will hit 500whp, 575 crank hp.
I know you'll miss the handling capabilities of the 8 initially. I did too, but I've driven a couple of full suspension GTO's, and it's impressive what they can do. There is strong road racing heritage that we get from the Holden Monaro HSV program, and the suspension parts and knowledge comes straight from Australia.
And since everybody's so hung up on Top Gear around here...
Presenting the Britiish version of your GTO.
