Help! (tire & oil questions)
Hey guys, I'm new to the RX-8 world.
I'm buying one as we speak, but currently I am deployed to Iraq, and have a few questions/concerns.
I've read online that this car has oil problems? Is there anyway to get around those?
Another is the tires in rainy/wet conditions suck. Can I fix that?
Please let me know ASAP

The oil problems you can't change! It's a wankle rotary it's in it's DNA! Just make sure to check your oil every fill up and make sure you use correct thickness of oil! As for the rubber do your self a favor as spend the money on a nice set of performance tires I'd suggest the hankook v4 or v12

...you start off suspiciously like a troll...
In case you aren't, start reading here: New and Potential Owners start here (https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=202454)
It's a thread specifically targeted to new owners.
The OEM tires are subpar, but if you are buying used, then they have probably been changed already. They don't last long.

I had the oem dunlops and they lasted about 27k miles, 18k of those miles driven by someone else. Then I went with goodyear eagle GTs, and I would not buy those again. Not the best tire, even in the rain like its partially made for it still sucks. Theres probably threads around here where people have rated tires.

Yes, there are a few tire rating threads.
Everyone typically has their own preference, which is largely biased by where they live and the precipitation volume they run into.
For an area that sees lots of rain, standing water, etc.... I will highly suggest Yokohama S.Drives every time. I live in the 4th or 5th rainiest city (by volume) in the country, and am on my 3rd set of them. I've never found a better summer performance tire when it comes to rain and hydroplane resistance, and they are still pretty good in the dry.

Since the OP is in Italy, he's got to be legit. Too much cool stuff there to waste time trolling.
Typical oil use is about a quart every couple of thousand miles. Yours may vary. Not a big hassle to check it every few fillups. But oil is injected to lubricate the seals, so it does consume the stuff.
For tires in the rain... go to tirerack.com and browse through the reviews and user ratings. Easy site to find your way through.

Ah, understood. No offense intended
Just we frequently have to deal with people from other forums coming on here and asking inflammatory questions to which the answers are easily found, and they are usually have 1 post and a recent join date. We call them "trolls".
Your post fit that model.
