Hello everyone!!

Hi guys, i am new to the club. just purchased an rx8 due to the loss of my audi a4 in a car accident. i have a 2004 rx8 manual and so far i love the car. So far i am kind of naive about the vehicle. all i know is to not turn off the motor when its cold because it causes flooding. Can you guys give me any other tips on the car like what rpm is good to launch? Any other suggestions are welcome driving and non driving. Thank you for your help guys looking forward to the club

launch??? most of the time when u try to launch u get wheel hop and thats bad for ur car.....if u do however try to at 5k....if u have traction control hold the dsc button for 7 seconds to turn off the traction control...uh...if u are looking to stay NA while improving car performance....the following i suggest...
  1. lightweight JWL certified wheels like volks.enkeis.rays.advans
  2. cold air intake... revi ram with revi duct...aem...or any of the following ram intakes with the racing beat ram duct....k&n.injen.hks.sr motorsports
  3. Ap crank pulley
  4. racing beat race pipe with racing beat exhaust or hks for more lightweight. any race pipe with any exhaust if u dont have money...or a supercat
  5. BHR ignition upgrade with GM yukon coils
  6. optima battery
  7. ASI short shifter...? something like that
  8. cobb accessport
  9. the suspension is pretty good but if u want coil overs, sway bars, end links, cross braces, strut bars

    Lightweight flywheel and better clutch

or u can always go turbo or supercharge....all this stuff can be found by using the search...

let ur engine warm up and idle down to 1k before u go anywhere

This is not true. Just don't drive it hard until it's warm. It is 100% ok to turn the car on in the morning, wait 5-10 seconds, then reverse out and go. You DO NOT have to let the engine warm up or idle down before you go anywhere.

The other thing I would advise you to do is check your oil. Make sure it's not low, and if it is, buy some 5w-20 or 5w30 and top it off. Some people use different grades (10w-30, etc.) stick with NON-synthetic or Mazda will own you.

Remeber, a redline a day keeps the carbon away!

Yeah, Mazda just says not to use it because they don't know the long term effects of synthetic oil on a rotary. It's up to you.

Well, two methods seem successful in launching.
1) Feather the clutch at 5K for a nice non hopping launch and a good 60' time.
2) Better for the inexperienced, drop the clutch at 7K; note: this WILL sometimes cause wheel hop and is not good for the car, but itll keep you in the powerband for fast acceleration.

Most of my personal suggestions have been mentioned; check the oil, keep up with maintenance, redline once a day when fully warmed up, make sure its warmed before shutting it down.

Enjoy the car and search around the forum for further information, pics, vids, and information on every aftermarket part in existence for our car
