General Tech Info?

I am looking for technical books about the RX-8, the rotary engine and other car topics. I have virtually no background here. The most complicated task that I've done is an oil change.

Enter the RX-8. I now have the desire to do more. I would like to have some knowledge before I get my '8.

I've worked on most types of Army helicopters, so I know my way around a toolbox. I just need info specific to cars.

The dealers have two manuals on the RX8, I have seen the part #'s on this board somewhere. Try a search or call a parts dept.

The service manuals are a necessity, which I will buy.

What I am looking for right now, is the theory of operation.

I have a technical background also, so I know this might be a useless suggestion. Anyway, the "howstuffworks.com" has a pretty good article on the Rotary. At least as a primer until you find some actual useful info.

howstuffworks.com is a good source, but it's at "Dick and Jane" level. I'm looking for more in-depth info.

well the Yamagughi book is the book all pre-order customers received as a gift. it's basically a history of the developement from concept to launch. not extremely technical but a good base.

oh and if you haven't look thru the entire press package from the launch last year. you can find the link to it here

Already seen the press package, it's exquesite.

I know the basic theory of rotary engines. I mean, we all learned about them in high school. Although it's been a few years, so the refreshers listed above were helpful.

Looking thru the New Posts, there are quite a few things that I don't know a lot about.

1. catbacks
2. spring install
3. aluminum flywheel

Just a few examples.
